What Program Optimization Management contributes to Cardinal Health

Program Optimization Management is responsible for playing a key/critical role in realizing business value through the application of knowledge, tools, and skills to meet business objectives. The ASC Program Optimization Manager (POM) will report directly to the Non Acute Director of Clinical Operations and Presource® Optimization

There are two openings available. Ideal candidates will be based in a major metropolitan area on the East Coast or West Coast.


  • Conducts proactive Bill of Material (BOM) analysis and on-site Presource® program reviews and pack sampling to optimize key targeted accounts
  • Leads in-kit penetration, share of wallet (i.e., product expansion and product launch) program expansion, program profitization, and component and kit standardization projects
  • Provides expertise in procedural kitting, procedural supply chain and kitting design
  • Leverage’s data, insights, and solutions to recommend best practices
  • Conducts virtual BOM reviews and analysis for optimizing penetration in kits
  • Makes recommendations for kit standardization and identifies growth opportunities
  • Has good working knowledge of the ASC market to understand product, program, and customer needs
  • Supports the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Field Sales, Inside Sales organization and the Non Acute Strategic Accounts teams
  • Ability to document and measure the effectiveness of work
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the project management initiating, planning, executing, monitoring/controlling, and closing processes
  • Monitor’s performance and recommends scope, schedule, cost, or resource adjustments; connects short-term demands to long-term implications, in alignment with the supporting business case
  • Prioritizes multiple tasks while meeting deadlines; communicates project status to stakeholders in an open and honest fashion
  • Effectively balances competing project constraints including but not limited to scope, quality, schedule, funding, budget, resources, and risk, to manage project success
  • Connects project/program optimization objectives to broader organizational goals
  • Provides input to contracts, reviews contracts to ensure completeness of scope and appropriate accountability based on role and/or responsibility
  • Negotiates with stakeholders to obtain the resources necessary for successful project execution


  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
  • 4+ years experience in related field preferred
  • Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) knowledge preferred
  • Highly analytic with strong attention to detail
  • Independent researching capabilities for detail examination of the subject to obtain all facts and data necessary for a complete review
  • Ability to be a self-starter, work independently and with others
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Proficiency in PackManager®, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and other Cardinal Health Data Analytic Systems
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time
