Hologic VP, Government Affairs in Marlborough, Massachusetts

The Vice President of Government Affairs will be responsible for the development and delivery of comprehensive advocacy strategies to shape federal, state and local legislation that support the mission and strategic goals of Hologic. This leader will be an influential advocate for policies related to the betterment of women’s health. They will collaborate globally with Commercial, Communications, Business Development, Health Policy and Payer teams to strategically utilize community and national advocacy programs to build strong governmental relationships.

  • Initiates and maintains relationships with key legislators and regulators, associations and advocacy groups to support business and product goals.

  • Work with global partners, governments, and divisions/regions to identify customer needs, market access gaps, and unmet public health needs.

  • Build strong relationships with internal business leaders, working pro-actively to keep them well-informed about political, legislative and regulatory developments impacting Hologic business activities.

  • Oversees analysis of key regulatory issues impacting the organization and focuses on those issues that advance Hologic’s competitive business interests.

  • Assess state and local political and public policy environment, determine where legislative and regulatory action is advisable and where it is not, and make recommendations to take action.

  • Develop relationships with key third party advocates across the patient, business and health sectors and engage them in support of issues, policies, and legislative and regulatory action.

  • Serve as a critical thought partner and provide expertise to the Global Leadership team.

Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of experience in public administration, lobbying, political party activity, legislative staff work, or related experience. Experience in healthcare industry issues preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree required. JD, MBA, MPH or other relevant advanced degree preferred

  • Experience building and/or leading a government affairs function in a medical device company

  • Ability to deal effectively with high-profile stakeholders such as elected officials, executives and a variety of external constituencies; including ability to navigate the political landscape.

  • Requires advanced knowledge of legislative rules and procedures, legislative processes, politics, and the complex corporate and policy issues

  • Proven, dynamic leader with strong interpersonal skills who can work effectively at all levels of an organization and deliver results.

  • Possess a broad understanding of how to leverage the capabilities of talent to deliver growth for the organization

  • International experience highly desired
