Sunovion Associate Director Business Development - Frontier Business Office in Marlborough, Massachusetts

Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma America Inc. is looking for an Associate to join our Frontier Business Development. This role is is a remote based role - but frequent meetings will be required in and around Boston and Metro West so preference will be given to candidates who can easily commute to these meetings.

We are seeking an Associate of Frontier Business Development to further drive ongoing and future programs and projects. This role will be constantly supporting multiple projects in parallel for identifying, designing, and executing opportunities.

Essential Functions:

  • Supporting on-going inhouse projects including product development, , regulatory and commercialization.

  • Supporting in identifying and evaluating external assets for in-licensing, or other collaborations, in support of Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma's and its subsidiaries' overall business development strategy. (https://www.ds-pharma.com/)

  • Supporting cross functional planning and execution for newly identified opportunities.

  • Identify the appropriate internal stakeholders from all the departments across the organization (New Product Planning, Medical Affairs, Health Outcomes Research, Clinical Research, Commercial Strategy, Market Access, Regulatory, Finance, Accounting, Legal, IP, Data Privacy, QMS, etc.) to form the appropriate cross functional evaluation team to rapidly progress digital technology opportunities.

  • Actively collaborating and communicating with colleagues in Japanese parent company.

  • Build collaborative relationships with industry stakeholders, including government and healthcare institutions.

  • Participating in developing and executing sustainable business strategies and plans that are aligned with the company's short-term and long-term objectives.

Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of digital technology and its application to the healthcare sector.

  • Qualified candidates will have a PhD (in a related scientific discipline) or MS degree.

  • 3+ years of combined commercial and/or R&D experience in the pharmaceutical, medical device, or technology industry.

  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to listen to and comprehend various stakeholders' positions, within organization (Japanese parent company and US sister companies) and externally.

  • Ability to adapt in an ever-changing environment with multiple governance processes.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.

  • Always think out-of-the-box, with empathy to patients and caregivers.

Desired Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • MBA desirable.

  • 3+ years of very recent experience of digital technology and its application to the healthcare sector.

  • Experience in publication research, as it relates to potential business collaborations.

  • Ability to lead business analytics research projects.
