The Advanced Design Tools (ADT) team is a software organization which develops and maintains a portfolio of engineering tools for GE Aerospace (commercial and military divisions). This portfolio covers a wide range of applications, including scientific simulation, modeling, visualization. In this role as a Design System Integration engineer and developer, you will work across several science-based design organizations and engine product lines to develop, implement, and support the next generation of software design tools and architectures. You will facilitate the digital design of critical engine components by combining engineering best practices in conjunction with design engineers from several disciplines, all within an intuitive and user-friendly software platform. In a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, this role will require a very strong technical background to respond, plan, and drive deliverables to support turbomachinery designs for new, legacy, and conceptual applications across the GE Aerospace portfolio.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest software development and infrastructure while providing technical leadership

  • Work with Product Line Leaders (PLLs) to understand product requirements & vision

  • Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse

  • Leads impact assessment and decision related to technology choices, design /architectural considerations and implementation strategy.

  • Subject matter expert in processes and methodologies with ability to adapt and improvise in various situations. Expert in navigating through ambiguity and prioritizing conflicting asks.

  • Expert level skills in design, architecture and development, with an ability to take a deep dive in the implementation aspects if the situation demands.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) from an accredited college or university.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in design engineering

  • Strong background in development and programming with professional experience coding

  • Experience with NX/Unigraphics or other CAD based engineering tools

  • Location where work needs to be performed is Cincinnati, OH or Lynn, MA

  • Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain US government security clearance

Desirable Attributes:

  • Strong background in engineering tools, APIs and integration. Experience with NX, NXOpen, ANSYS, APDL, C, C++, C#, QT, scripting

  • Experience in enterprise level software development, deployment, and support structures

  • Experience in multidisciplinary turbomachinery design and fundamentals for turbine blade components.

  • Knowledgeable about developments in UX in various contexts, businesses, and industries. Quantifies effectiveness of design choices by gathering data. Drives accountability and adoption. Publishes guidance and documentation to promote adoption of design. Proposes design solutions based on research and synthesis; creates general design principles that capture the vision and critical concerns for a program.

  • Experience working in an agile environment, participating in scrums/ other ceremonies and using tools to help facilitate like Rally or Jira.
