As a Director, Global Upstream Marketing working on the Systems Integration (SI) team, you will be empowered and inspired to do your best work. You will shape and drive the realization of the SI global vision and mission which is to connect clinicians with each other, relevant clinical and operational analytics, and medical images and video. Our mission is to create more highly functioning teams and a superior experience for clinicians and patients in the operating room and throughout the hospital. A typical day for you will include:
Maintaining responsibility for worldwide System Integration product and service portfolio, supporting all specialties. Portfolio currently includes Operating Room integration, enterprise connections and content management products, clinical documentation, and medical virtual presence solutions.
Overseeing the execution of key new product development deliverables and successful launches across all global geographies, developing strategies to serve all key global markets.
Recruiting, hiring, training, motivating, and leading direct reports to deliver on key objectives consistent with annual business plan and corporate initiatives.
Leading upstream team in all product life cycle activities including product/market requirements, clinical claims, voice of customer and other market research, product roadmap development, product introduction planning, product structure, pricing, product obsolescence, and collaborating with R&D to ensure maximum product-market fit.
Through extensive external research (both primary and secondary market information), developing the strategic SI roadmap & portfolio strategy, considering both line extension and new product development.
Interfacing with Executive, R&D and Market Development leadership to ensure internal resource allocation is consistent with strategically aligned business growth opportunities.
Fostering frequent collaboration with downstream marketing counterparts at Olympus sales business centers worldwide to monitor and evaluate product performance, sales, customer complaints, and new market requirements.
Interacting with other Olympus Manufacturing Business Centers worldwide to coordinate global product road maps ensuring strategic fit, alignment, prioritization and resource allocation.
Leading by example and trains reports in adhering to departmental processes for product management, product commercialization, and life cycle management. These activities include the creation of value/pricing models, business models, pricing packages, product structure, product launch packages, value proposition, persona development, marketing materials, training materials, and product requirements as well as the spearheading of Alpha/Beta programs and competitive analysis/positioning.
Developing and implementing new group processes to improve efficiency, collaboration, etc.
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clinical (surgeons, nurses, etc across all served specialties) and non-clinical (biomed, IT, hospital administration) stakeholders and other industry KOLs as sources of formal and informal feature, product, market feedback.
Implementing and supporting advisory boards, reference site programs, and developmental relationships as appropriate.
Developing and maintaining product, clinical, and market expertise through attendance of customer sites, procedures, courses, conferences, etc.
Performing all other essential duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree is required, Master’s Degree/MBA is strongly preferred.
Minimum of 15 years of total business experience – R&D, marketing, product management is preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in healthcare IT. Similar experience in medical device and/or enterprise software will also considered.
Ability to travel up to 30% both within the domestic U.S & Internationally, sometimes on short notice.
Ability to interact with stakeholders from other cultures.
Clinical training and experience, particularly surgical, is strongly preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be expert at presenting to and interacting effectively with clinical, IT/technical, and executive management audiences.
Strong leadership skills with proven ability to effectively manage people.
Previous team management preferred.
Strong organizational and team building skills.
Excellent influence, facilitation and problem solving skills.
Proven experience leading product efforts including early stage requiring development of business case, competitive due diligence, financial modelling, reimbursement, \"how we win\" strategy.
Expertise in user requirement identification, customer input, VOC & market research.
Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and a drive for results including meeting deadlines and achieving goals.
Highly effective at dealing with change and ambiguity as business needs shift, responding well under pressure and demonstrating flexibility while ensuring compliance.
Ability to interact effectively with marketing, sales, engineering, regulatory, finance, legal, manufacturing, and operations teams within ISM and across other sales and manufacturing business units.
Must have demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in complex, global business setting.
Strong clinical knowledge and aptitude; comfortable in working with physicians in an operating room and clinician office environment.
Strong technical aptitude; comfortable in working with engineers, IT, and biomed stakeholders.
Aptitude and experience in selling concepts and interfacing with senior level management; internal and external.
Strong analytical skills; financial and strategic.
Ability to review and negotiate Business Agreements.
Project Management experience and skills.
Strong Business to Business marketing skills.

The Director, Global Upstream Marketing, SI (Systems Integration) will shape and drive realization of the SI global vision and mission to connect clinicians with each other, relevant clinical/operational analytics, and medical images/video to create more highly functioning teams and a superior experience for clinicians and patients in the OR and throughout the hospital. The incumbent achieves this by developing and implementing strategies and tactics for the commercial launch, penetration, and profitability of current and future SI products and services. She/He will help lead the upstream marketing team in identifying attractive business opportunities, unmet customer needs, market trends, competitive forces, and relevant new technologies. In addition, she/he will be responsible for the creation and validation of an SI-wide product/service roadmap and the execution of global product/service introductions to successfully achieve revenue, profit and other business objectives. To be successful, the incumbent will develop collaborative worldwide partnerships with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and other external SI stakeholders such as IT and biomed, Olympus sales business centers (SBCs), R&D organizations (MBCs), regulatory/legal/quality, manufacturing, operations functions, and other SI vendors/partners.
