Shire Sales and Marketing Technology Professional in Lexington, Massachusetts

Primary Duties:

Shire is looking for a Sales and Marketing Technology Professional to join the US Commercial IT Business Partner team. This role will collaborate with sales and marketing teams at Shire to deliver innovative technology solutions, and understand how sales and marketing teams work and the solutions that enable their success.

The Sales and Marketing Technology Professional will work on a team which leverages relationships around the company to design, scope, brainstorm, and innovate technology that benefits Shire's sales, marketing, and patient services functions. The person in this role will need to quickly adapt and build business process knowledge that supports Shire.

The Sales and Marketing Technology Professional will work with sales and marketing teams and the technology experts, your job is to help both sides understand what that great idea is and then iterate to get to something that's possible.

This team has high standards for delivery, focuses on pragmatic ideas for Shire’s patients and is very collaborative.

Typical things the team works on in a given day include:

  • Design a new dashboard to track brand performance

  • Working with marketing teams on business requirements for new digital marketing ideas

  • Collaborating with sales leadership on CRM system design.

  • Playing point between agencies, brand teams, and IT operations on website launches ·

  • Understand how customer facing teams use technology to help patients and then work with them on measurable improvements.

  • Lead an adhoc office hours session on new technology where users of that technology can come with questions and problems to be solved.

Responsibilities:

10% Strategic Partnering

  • Clearly communicate with stakeholders to understand requirements where technology will play a part in meeting commercial goals.

  • Excellent communication skills, in person, on the phone, and electronically.

60% Plan and Build

  • Comfortable participating in a proposal for an innovative idea designed to deliver the technology needs of the Neuroscience and Ophthalmics business units at Shire

  • Willing to document and deliver these ideas and see them through with a sustainable and efficient support model.

30% Run

  • Provide input and expectations of the applications support team and partner with capability experts to get your work done

  • Look for challenges with operational support processes and take the initiative to improve them

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (required), background outside of a technical discipline is welcomed and encouraged

  • 2+ years of relevant experience (required)

  • Consulting / Internship / co-op / entry level experience in the Pharmaceuticals or Life Sciences industry (preferred)

  • Basic understanding the pharmaceutical business and data used by sales and marketing teams (preferred)

  • Domestic travel 6-10 trips a year; limited international travel.
