About the role:

The Global Category Manager- Serum, Quality Services, Cell Therapy will need to work with the functional teams to create value added category strategies and hold well-implemented sourcing events. Join Takeda as a Global Category Manager where you will partner with VP/Sr. Director and Director level business owners to guide category management, strategic sourcing and supply management plans. As part of the strategic Sourcing team, you will report to the Biotech, Devices, BioLife, Procurement Lead.

How you will contribute:

40% - Category Management & Delivery

  • Develop, lead, and manage sub-category strategies spanning near, mid and long-term time horizon, including: (i) competitive market analysis, (ii) Takeda spend and internal analysis, (iii) supplier segmentation, (iv) risk mitigation planning, and (v) value driving initiatives.

  • Identify high-value procurement projects to management by working collaboratively with business owners and through category strategy development.

  • Co-develop and execute sourcing strategies with the business owners, advising and guiding the process to the best-fit approach, tactics and tools (e.g. outcome-based specifications, RFP/RFI/RFQ builds, E-auctions, KPI/SLA development).

  • Deliver excellence in front-end procurement activities, including market research, demand management, spend analytics, category strategy development, agreement negotiation, e-procurement, and business owner engagement.

  • Utilize established tools/systems & adhere to all Takeda policies.

30% - Client/Internal Relations/ Education

  • Focus on a target audience of business owners to gain support & buy-in to executing plans. Engage procurement executives as appropriate.

  • Increase engagement with business owners to improve coverage, especially where Procurement is engaged late or not at all.

  • Understand business area needs, strategies and priorities, communicate these to line management and incorporate into category strategies accordingly.

  • Explain procurement practices, benefits to the organization, and the value of SRM activities.

  • Meet regularly with business owners to ensure alignment, solicit feedback and share market intelligence and internal synergy insights and opportunities

20% - Supplier Relations and Management

  • Enable Takeda to increase supplier performance by working in partnership with suppliers for mutually beneficial business.

  • In collaboration with the Business owners, perform robust SRM tactics with strategic suppliers in alignment with the category strategy.

  • Lead supplier escalations of supply disruptions to mitigate the impact to Takeda operations.

  • Create a culture of compliance internally and externally where everyone abides by Takeda’s Global Code of Conduct and Supplier Code of Conduct.

  • Strategically engage suppliers in support of Takeda’s sustainability and ESG values and commitments.

10% - Processes, Metrics & Execution

  • Contribute to the development of robust metrics, methods and systems and inputs feedback from business owners.

  • Use market research to ensure that Takeda stays abreast of latest market cost/value/innovation developments per Category.

  • Ensure compliance to policies, approval procedures and support audit remediation, as required.

  • Responsible for driving the contract negotiation process through Takeda’s systems and procedures.

  • Establish and maintain processes to monitor and confirm contract coverage for assigned categories.

  • Responsible for timely procurement of contract services required for company operations.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • BA or BS required; MBA preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability of working with cross functional teams in a complex, changing environment.

  • 10 years of overall business experience, 5-7 years of Procurement experience, including working within a regulated industry.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate ideas and influence others across layers of management.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver value-added results to the organization by applying financial analysis principles and procurement discipline.

  • Evidenced capability executing sourcing events, negotiating complex agreements, and driving supplier performance improvement.

  • Professional Purchasing (e.g. CIPS), Project Management, or Finance related licenses or certifications would be considered advantageous.

  • Experience with enterprise systems and procurement tools such as Ariba, SAP and contract management technology is preferred.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$149,100.00 - $234,300.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
