MIT Lincoln Laboratory CO-OP Student - Science Writer in Lexington, Massachusetts
The Technical Communications Co-op will assist with developing and maintaining high-quality content for the weekly MIT Lincoln Laboratory internal newsletter. The purpose of the newsletter is to share timely technology- and community-focused stories with Laboratory personnel.
Primary Duties: Report on Laboratory events, programs, employee accomplishments, and community activities Gather quotes and interview Laboratory personnel throughout all levels of management Support editorial staff in researching, writing, editing, fact-checking, and proofreading articles for publication Collaborate with department team members Support news video transcription efforts Assist with other office duties as required
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate BA, BS, or MA degree program in Journalism, Communications, Professional Writing, English, or Liberal Arts
Strong editorial/journalistic sensibility in terms of content and design
Experience setting priorities and meeting deadlines and goals in a fast-paced environment
Excellent teamwork and interpersonal capabilities and communication skills are required
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe InDesign desired
Interest in science and technology writing
Demonstrated capabilities in presenting ideas written and orally within a cross-functional environment required.
Ability to obtain a government security clearance required.
Writing samples required.
