Cape Abilities Development Officer in Hyannis, Massachusetts

GENERAL SUMMARY Founded in 1968, Cape Abilities has a distinguished history of providing services and support to individuals with disabilities. Cape Abilities, Inc. seeks a fulltime Development Officer that will work closely with the Director of Development and Vice President of Philanthropy & Engagement to successfully implement Cape Abilities? fundraising, donor cultivation and stewardship program. The Development Officer will be expected to cultivate and manage relationships with existing donors at various levels of giving, as well as identifying new prospects. The candidate will possess proven fundraising experience, a thorough knowledge of gift options and an ability to clearly communicate the mission of Cape Abilities. Relationship fundraising approach is required from the close of the gift and beyond. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Manage a portfolio of a minimum of 100 existing and prospective donors at various giving levels. Conduct comprehensive prospect research on current and potential donors. Develop and execute targeted donor cultivation plans. Analyze donor data reports, mailing lists and other prospect-gathering mechanisms to generate new prospect pipeline lists. Create briefings and strategies for effectively engaging prospects during donor visits and events. Create unique and engaging opportunities for current and prospective donors to engage with CEO, Board of Directors, staff and agency participants. Ensure that systems are established, implemented and followed for donor acknowledgement, recordkeeping and donor recognition. Remain up-to-date in all areas of development by participating in professional development opportunities, professional networks, and conferences. Identify and participate in creation of donor story and communication pieces for use in newsletters, annual reports, acknowledgement letters and other communication materials Responsible for meeting and reporting on key performance indicators on a weekly basis, preparing prospect contact reports, and entering contact information into donor management program in a timely manner. Provide exceptional stewardship of donors after a gift has closed, including recognition, communication, and reporting on impact of gift. Identify programs and initiatives in order to tailor them to funding interests of potential donor prospects Deliver organized, structured, and persuasive presentations, using effective written and verbal communication and technology skills. Support and participate in Cape Abilities fundraising initiatives and projects as needed Performs additional duties, as assigned. PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Bachelor's Degree Five years of fundraising experience Results-oriented with demonstrated personal successful donor cultivation and solicitation experience with a range of donors, including individuals, corporations and foundations. Outstanding interpersonal, communication and writing skills Highly adaptive, change-positive personality capable of working effectively within a teams and independently Knowledge and experience in fundraising best practices and regulations Strong project management skills; ability to set priorities, and work independently Attention to details and accuracy Demonstrated success in managing complex projects, while consistently meeting goals. Professional and courteous presence, on phone and in person, ability to work with a wide variety of people, ease in initiating contacts with other groups Able to produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain donor database. Knowledgeable about the role of technology and electronic communication in fundraising Availability for evening and weekend work for events and donor contacts Valid driver's license in the state of Massachusetts.
