The Food Bank of Western Mass Senior Content Coordinator in Hatfield, Massachusetts

HATFIELD Come tell stories! The Food Bank is currently seeking a Senior Content Coordinator to create effective print, digital, and video content for The Food Bank's website, social media, newsletter, and other materials. As part of the Communications team, this position uses creative storytelling to educate and engage the public about the impact of hunger and food insecurity in western Massachusetts, and to promote The Food Bank's mission. Draft and edit content that promotes The Food Bank's mission and activities, including the capital campaign, in the newsletter, website, and other materials ? Create simple, yet compelling, video content to promote The Food Bank's mission and activities on the website and print channels, using appropriate tone and content ? Provide back-up support and assist with social media activity across all platforms including drafting and scheduling posts and monitoring activity ? Play an active role on Advocacy team, including developing ideas for online campaigns to complement advocacy and public education. ? Maintain up-to-date knowledge of topics related to food insecurity and its underlying causes through a variety of means Website ? Create short-form video content for online viewing (website and social media) ? Create and update content weekly on Food Bank website ? Maintain and troubleshoot website using the WordPress CMS platform ? Coordinate and collaborate with all other departments on the creation of materials to be used by internal and external audiences OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES ? Serve as back up for creating and disseminating press releases ? Attend Food Bank events and provide support ? Provide general support for the Development Division WORKING CONDITIONS ? Remote and office environment ? Occasional evenings and weekends ? Attend work-related functions virtual and off site JOB QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS Education and training - Associates degree in related field and two years of experience in journalism, digital video production, creative writing, public relations, or corporate communications. Extensive experience may count toward degree Other skills ? Strong writing skills and demonstrated ability to use appropriate tone and content for a variety of digital and print materials ? Experience in digital media including photography, video production and editing, and Photoshop ? Some basic experience with WordPress or similar Content Management System ? Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds including those who have lived experience with food insecurity, Food Bank staff and volunteers, our local members, and community and corporate partners for the purpose of content creation ? Awareness of food insecurity and its underlying causes ? An awareness of local and national current events as they relate to food insecurity in the region JOB PREFERENCES ? Personal experience with food insecurity and/or its underlying causes ? Bilingual in Spanish -especially native or heritage speakers ? Bicultural/multicultural background ? Experience editing with Adobe Premiere Pro ? Photojournalism experience ? Research skills ?
