This position can be located in one of our offices in either Hopkinton or Franklin, MA or Austin, TX.

Working in an environment that’s as complex as it is critical, our Buyer team within Materials and Procurement manages a group of indirect categories, such as real estate, marketing material, supplies or software. We use our in-depth knowledge and experience to develop strategic relationships with external suppliers as well as with key stakeholders. Our role also includes leading contract negotiations, managing risk, driving cost-saving initiatives and implementing strategic sourcing best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides input to the segment forecasters and brand teams as to how to forecast their products, including mix assumptions and growth rates.

  • Provides substitute product recommendations to cover severe supply shortages.

  • Develops projected end of life dates for products that are in a left-to-sell countdown based on demand supply efforts and history

  • Understands component lead times and supply flexibility of assigned products to reduce liabilities and increase COS.

  • Provides consolidation and disposition recommendations.

  • Assures BOM structure offers Supply Chain flexibility.

  • Influences supply chain design to increase flexibility and improves inventory utilization.

  • Assesses supply supportability position for Systems and Commodities, identifies mitigation alternatives for COS issues.

  • Provides recommendations and influences senior leadership within the function.

  • Collaborates with the CoC, Product Management, Sales Business Operations to develop and Maintain Product Demand Plans to ensure Supply Chain alignment to expected Customer Demands.

Essential Requirements

  • 8+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6+ years with a Master’s degree; or 3+ years with a PhD; or equivalent experience

  • Advanced understanding of demand supply to include: seasonality, Q/Q and Y/Y growth rates, market share goals, price position (WAPP), product life cycle, marcom, sales contests, margin and promotions.

  • Advanced knowledge of order management and fulfillment concepts and processes.

  • Advanced knowledge of forecast methodologies.

  • Advanced knowledge of financial management concepts, including product line P&L.

  • Advanced knowledge of Dell’s Master Sales Plan Forecast Process.

  • Advanced relationship and team building skills.
