Division Specific Information
As part of the Chemical Analysis Division, the Environmental & Process Monitoring team develops, manufactures, and services instrumentation used for monitoring and analysis of 1) gaseous and particulate emissions and 2) process flows and pollutants. These state-of-the-art products are used in a wide variety of customer applications and market segments from local, State & Government entities to Oil & Gas industry, Iron & Steel industry, Pharmaceutical, Food and other process industries. We utilize the latest technology to continuously evolve our product line which enables our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer.
How will you make an impact?
You will develop and lead a team of product development team to develop new products to support the Environmental and Process Monitoring Business Unit of Thermo Fisher Scientific. Working in a fast-paced environment, you'll partner with R&D functions, Marketing, Service and Manufacturing groups.
What will you do?
With a passion for growing talent, lead the management and professional development of the Product Development team
Guide the development of innovative new products throughout the design, verification, and validation phases of the Stage Gate NPD process
Ensure consistency with core Product Development standards: design control; creation and maintenance of design files; design for manufacturability (DFM); risk management; statistical design methods
Implement best practices and continuous improvements to reduce time to market while maintaining product quality, cost, and functionality
Analyze new components and materials for reliable function
Conceptualizing competing ideas and using quantitative analysis to narrow down choices
Work with Project Management to prepare comprehensive project plans with milestones and cost estimates
How will you get here?
Master's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline
PMP certification highly desired
7+ years of electromechanical product development experience, preferably in instrumentation
Strong understanding of firmware/software
5+ years of people management experience with a successful track record in building and inspiring teams
Portfolio of successful new product launches
Lean Product Development / Agile methodology experience desired
Statistical design experience desired
Familiar with FMEA, DFM & DOE reviews
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Ability to coach and mentor others, direct and non-direct reports, in the standard methodologies of product development
Process oriented with experience in managing to metrics
Creative with proven problem-solving skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Strong multi-cultural collaboration with ability to influence
