What you’ll be doing:
As a Senior Specialist, Product Management, you will be responsible for supporting product planning and execution throughout the entire Product Lifecycle, including: continuously capturing the voice of the customer and using it to shape the product experience, gathering and prioritizing product features and requirements, defining the product vision and strategy, and working closely with product development, brand and marketing to ensure product execution, revenue, and customer satisfaction goals are met.
What you bring to the table:
With direction from the Director, work closely with merchants in US Retail, Staples Business Delivery, Contract and Canada to drive Own Brand product sales and overall brand presence to support the development and management of Own Brand products.
Communicate with other functional groups within (Merchandising, Inventory, Marketing, Brand, Design) to keep projects moving and achieve mutual goals.
Assist in planning for upcoming promotional seasons, maximizing the opportunity to drive Staples brand products in promo locations throughout the year. This includes analysis of prior promotions, awareness of market trends and recommendations for promotional products. Work with team to prepare presentations and obtain product samples and displays
Collect and organize industry and market research on products, marketing techniques and analysis of assortments and then apply that to the growth and development of business strategies for Staples Brand products within that category
Assist in the creation of product briefs, giving definition and direction on a new project to the rest of the team
Complete Packaging Request Forms and ensure packaging artwork accuracy through online proofing process
Assist in the development of Staples brand products. This includes ideation, definition, and project management. It also includes working with the packaging and marketing teams as needed to bring the product to market
Preparation for meetings and significant follow-up needed to keep projects on track
Retrieve ad hoc financial data and reports to provide compelling information that supports strategic selling plans
Maintain Project Management Database and other Staples Product Brands systems with all information / changes for new product development projects.
What’s needed- Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
3 to 5 years of experience in product sales, marketing, merchandising, or product development.

Able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, resourcefulness, and a sense of urgency in accomplishing goals
Analytical skills – clear ability to measure results and assess opportunities through data mining, research and pulling data together to draw conclusions
Established problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
Previous experience working in a fast-paced and changing environment and able to demonstrate managing multiple high-importance tasks and stay organized
Established professional communication skills – written and verbal
