Job Summary

Manage the engagement model for merchandising

  • Provide the merchant organization (all channels) with strategy and analytics support on critical initiatives

  • Manage the design and testing of new dashboards and reports per the roadmap

  • Organize work flows to meet the roadmap requirements

Partner with GT

  • Partner with merchants, Business Insights and Global Technology teams to develop requirements that solve complex merchant reporting needs

  • Participate in governance meetings to prioritize tasks that must be met

  • Subject matter expert and advisor for GT teams with merchandising

Provide thought leadership to the team on best practices

  • Provide guidance to team on best solutions to meet their dashboard objectives

  • Manage the engagement model for merchandising to provide strategy and analytics support on critical initiatives

  • Responsible for the design, development, and implantation of new dashboards and reports to meet our sales and margin objectives

  • Insure both internal and external resources are appropriately prioritized to meet business needs

Innovation and Change

  • Partner with merchants and IT to drive innovation in reporting and analysis through the use of dashboards and visualizations

  • Focus on process that will save merchants time as well as drive profitable sales

  • Highlight exception reporting and new predicative modeling in Staples Advantage, Retail, and Staples.com channels

Communication/Interactions: Internal & External Customers/Suppliers as well as Third Parties

  • Partner both internally and externally (merchants and 3rd parties) to lead/oversee new report creation and analysis

People Leadership

  • Training and education support for the merchants on using new tools and reports

  • Contribute to the learning of the group by proactively sharing best practices and knowledge gained

  • Continuously improve all group processes to better meet the needs of internal clients

Business Strategy

  • Insure our reporting output aligns with yearly strategic goals

  • Help prioritize analytics to support key company initiatives

Key Performance Indicators

  • Changes driven from weekly engagement meetings with merchants

  • Execution of reporting roadmap

  • Continual release an updating of dashboard/self-service environment

Qualifications

Education/Experience Equivalent

  • Bachelor degree

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a performance analytics capacity or merchandising

  • Advanced Excel skills and intermediate experience with Access and SQL

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Structured problem-solving and hypothesis-driven analysis skills

  • Strong, effective communication skills (written and verbal)

Professional Knowledge and Experience

  • Team player with the ability to work independently and cross functionally

  • Proactive “can-do” attitude is a must

Other Skills

  • Understanding of relationship databases (Access, Oracle, etc.)

  • Power BI,Tableau, MicroStrategy, or comparable visualization software highly valued

  • Familiarity working with SAS, SPSS, R, Python preferred
