International Data Group Program Director, Smart Cities Strategies in Framingham, Massachusetts
The Government Insights team at IDC is seeking an energetic senior member of its internationally-recognized Smart Cities research team.
The Program Director is responsible for growing the Smart City client base via advisory offerings and research services to government clients. This is a relatively public role with many client-facing and industry-facing responsibilities, but with primary responsibility for producing the research product and providing advisory services. In addition, the Program Director is responsible for building the reputation and the revenues of the advisory and custom research, and expanding research into new, high interest areas.
Demonstrated thought leadership in the Smart Cities space and be able to communicate the importance of new ideas and trends in Smart Cities to engage both senior level officials, executive management, and relevant partners in academia, foundations and non-profits, and other government agencies
Prior experience and knowledge of municipal IT, ideally to include familiarity with policy review and development, RFP processes and development, IT governance, agency procurement, regulations, information management, and/or data governance
The ability to manage a research agenda, write research reports, present at industry events, help with marketing activities to raise industry visibility, conduct business development, provide sales support, and act as a trusted advisor for both state and local agencies and technology suppliers
Business Development/ Program Growth includes:
Revenue growth continually increasing number of clients
Revenue growth through other types of revenue (honorarium, report sales, consulting)
Contribution to the financial success of the group
Demonstrated ability to develop new products and identify new client bases
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution or the international equivalent is required, as is a relevant advanced degree
7-10 years of related work experience in state and local government, or with similar areas and levels of responsibility in the technology industry working with government customers
Previous analyst experience preferred
Given IDC's global customer base, experience with or in international work environments is helpful. Travel (approximately 25-30%) will be required as needed.
Excellent writing and superior communication skills required
