South Middlesex Opportunity Council Marketing Specialist in Framingham, Massachusetts

SUMMARY

The Marketing Specialist (MS) is a critical position that supports SMOC’s mission to improve equity, wellness and quality of life for diverse individuals and families. Focusing on resource development’s marketing initiatives and reporting to the Director of Resource Development, the MS provides marketing design, communication functions, and support as part of the resource development staff. The MS must be able to effectively articulate SMOC’s mission to inspire others to support the agency through marketing and development initiatives.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, plan, and execute marketing materials, campaigns, and visual language that build the SMOC brand within multiple and diverse market segments and communities, in order to support prospect donor acquisition, relationship expansion, donor loyalty and retention, and public interest.

  • Strategize, execute, and maintain the organization’s offline and online communication and social media presence to increase the organization’s visibility and funding, including ongoing maintenance of the agency website.

  • Design, catalog, and produce periodic corporate marketing materials as fundraising and relationship building tools for the agency.

  • Creatively position, execute, and refresh SMOC’s brand and its subsidiaries to generate higher reach to improve the organization’s fundraising activities in current and potential communities.

  • Assist in the planning and execution of current and new fundraising events for SMOC and its satellite brands and offices (may require occasional extended hours/evenings/weekends).

  • Decode the corporate branding and personality into tangible, printed marketing materials for all departments at SMOC and its satellite brands.

  • Document agency events and fundraising activities for internal and external publication through websites and other medias.

  • Perform other marketing/communications and resource development duties as assigned.

  • Maintain confidentiality of client, employee and agency information in accordance with federal and state laws and funder requirements.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • An undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in social marketing, business or related field.

  • Minimum two years of demonstrated experience in marketing for non-profits and/or social services.

  • Ability to multi-task and demonstrate strong marketing principles.

  • Ability to complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Ability to lead and support marketing projects and work across agency programs and teams.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team.

  • Skilled in the use of a computer (word, excel, email, internet), Salesforce or other CRM system, knowledge of WordPresss and other CMS, and ability to adapt to other computing systems.

  • Must have and maintain a valid Massachusetts driver's license.

  • Must have access to a reliable, insured and registered automobile.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to travel across the Metro-West/Agency footprint areas via personal vehicle

  • Must be able to sit or stand for a prolonged period

  • Must be able to operate a computer and complete extensive paperwork

WORKING CONDITIONS

As part of the responsibilities of this position, the Marketing Specialist will have direct or incidental contact with clients served by SMOC in various programs funded or administered through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. A successful background check is required
