The Co-op Media team manages all paid media investments funded by customers of Staples, Inc. Media Center of Excellence (COE)

The Manager, Digital Media role reports to the Senior Director and is a key position in managing the day-to-day media responsibilities of all digital media (display, paid search, social, digital video and audio, and retargeting) for co-op programs.

The Manager will work in the Staples, Inc. Media Center of Excellence, a group supporting media across all Staples, Inc. properties (other than Staples US Retail). The Manager, Digital Media partners extensively with external media agencies & media partners to drive performance in support of Staples' marketing objectives. Candidates who would be successful in this role are described as having a passion for media activation, operational excellence, driving results, and communicating performance. The Manager must have strong first-hand knowledge of attribution and media measurement. Where there are bold new opportunities to enable automation, personalization, and other new AdTech solutions at scale, the Manager is eager to research, propose and activate. Moreover, the Manager is a strong digital marketing subject matter expert, intellectually curious, and believes in customer-centric marketing

Core Responsibilities:

  • Own an annual media budget of $15-20mm+ and ensure that vehicles are effectively meeting planned marketing KPIs for customers of Staples, Inc. businesses.

  • Manage the co-op media team to assist with executional responsibilities of all relevant media vehicles.

  • Partner with and prioritize work for internal constituents in merchandising and marketing and co-op media vendors.

  • Be the primary point of contact with Director counterparts at media specialist agencies for programmatic, social and search; dictate all projects on Staples’ behalf.

  • Assist is building the strategic media marketing plan and work with external agency to craft a tactical plan to fit the business needs.

  • Decide on the best mix of budget allocation, targeting, and tracking between vehicle partners.

  • Respond to requests from internal stakeholders regarding digital media strategies and budgeting, YOY changes and impact.

  • Collaborate with the Digital Analytics team to receive and interpret results via multi-touch attribution, market tests, controlled experiments, and ad hoc analyses.

  • Use experience and clout in market to push partners on transparency, product dev, alpha/beta test inclusions, and value-add.

  • Oversee vehicle measurement, including the design and operation of relevant dashboards and reports.

  • Work closely with internal and external creative teams to inform and push for platform-specific display, video and audio creative.

  • Collaborate with media leadership team on educational, forward-thinking opportunities and infuse the buying tactical plan to consider the evolving TV viewership landscape (FEP/VOD, OTT, native content integrations, addressable, etc.) and audio landscape (streaming, podcasts, native content, etc.).

Qualifications Basic Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years marketing or media buying experience

  • Experience managing media agency teams of 5+ client-dedicated FTEs

  • Expertise in data analysis, especially distinguishing meaningful insights and trends vs. white noise

  • Technical and strategic knowledge of programmatic media buying, paid search & the evolving addressable TV and streaming audio landscape.

  • Proficiency in activation of key digital video partners (YouTube, Amazon Fire TV, Hulu, Roku, etc.) and digital audio partners (Spotify, Pandora, iHeart Radio, etc.)

  • Knowledge of marketing technologies & tools (web analytics, tag management, ad servers, attribution, etc.)

  • Ability to draw conclusions and act based on data.

  • Self-starter with high degree of motivation, ability to meet deadlines and to manage multiple projects.
