Staples Field Marketing Manager in Framingham, Massachusetts

Description

The Regional Marketing Manager develops and executes localized marketing strategies that acquire new customers, drive retail traffic, and deepen our stores’ connection to their local communities. The Manager is responsible for independently delivering successful strategies from ideation to execution while partnering with cross-functional stakeholders. This includes managing the planning and execution of regional marketing programs, developing impactful marketing materials, communicating with business partners, resolving issues, analyzing results, and identifying opportunities. This dynamic position partners directly with Brand Strategy, Store Experience, Store Operations, Retail Field Leadership, Merchandising and other business units to achieve Retail business objectives.

This is a fast-paced role with priorities that evolve to meet our customers’ and stores’ changing needs. A successful candidate has strong strategic planning and analytical skills, efficient project management experience, a flexible disposition, and a customer-oriented mindset. They are also a creative thinker who questions how things have historically been done and looks for opportunities to test new approaches. Key Responsibilities

STRATEGY AND PLANNING

  • Develop and execute strategic marketing plans that are comprehensive and informed by quantitative and qualitative inputs

  • Partner within and outside of marketing to understand business needs and market nuances to develop in-store programs that drive results

  • Collaborate with marketing partners to develop customer strategies at the local level

  • Forecast financial impact of strategies and programs

  • Understand competitor activities and performance

CUSTOMER AND BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE

  • Proactively evaluate data related to programs, vehicle performances and customer segments

  • Derive insights from research and analysis to inform strategic recommendations

  • Integrate learnings and customer insights into marketing plans and activities

INNOVATION AND CHANGE

  • Create a test-and-learn pipeline. Execute and refine.

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to create and improve processes

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT

  • Be the senior point of contact and expert for your Regional Marketing programs, including presenting initiatives to field leadership and store teams

  • Own and execute programs from start to finish that are on strategy, on time and on budget

  • Work with the creative team to develop impactful marketing materials

  • Measure the effectiveness of all program activities and continuously improve results

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure stakeholder alignment

  • Communicate program updates and details to Field Leadership teams

  • Manage external vendor relationships

PEOPLE LEADERSHIP

  • Manage 1 direct report; Oversee responsibilities and performance

  • Foster an environment of learning and innovation to support team members’ professional development, enabling them to meet or exceed business objectives

Qualifications

EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree and management experience required

  • MBA preferred

  • 8+ years of strategic planning and marketing program management required

  • Previous experience in retail a plus

  • Some travel required (pandemic permitting)

  • Exceptional strategic thinking and creative problem-solving abilities

  • Strong leader, able to keep initiatives moving on time and on budget. Able to foresee and prevent problems in advance and fix any issues quickly

  • Proactive, quick, decisive, self-motivated and can handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; Must be able to manage up the organization to the VP level

  • Exceptional writing and presentation skills; Will be responsible for creating decks and presenting to large audiences and senior management

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to articulate the most important questions needed, identify the best data and metrics to answer those questions and communicate analytic results and insights in an understandable and actionable way

  • Team-orientation, with an affinity for influencing and working across functions in a dynamic, often-changing environment

  • Customer-first mindset; The needs of our customers and field teams should influence all decisions

  • Ability to write strategic creative briefs and partner with a creative team to develop impactful marketing assets

  • Incredibly organized with an ability to create scalable processes

  • Strong manager and developer of people

  • Mastery of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel

  • Experience negotiating with/managing agencies and vendors a plus
