Danaher Corporation Director, Software Platform, Product Management in Framingham, Massachusetts

Essential Duties, Critical Success Factors, Responsibilities, Authorities and Required Interactions:

Set the direction for the next generation software platform, while maintaining our legacy software platform products. As the ‘owner’ of our platform you will utilize your knowledge of Mass Spectrometry, software product management, and customer interaction to maintain Sciex’s success in this space.

The Position:

The Director, Software Platform will be accountable for the software platform product portfolio to ensure continued growth in revenue and instrument attachment. The Director will lead the product managers responsible for our next generation platform software as well as our legacy software platform. Further, as the ‘owner’ of our platform software, he/she will d evelop specific marketing plans and activities for specific product(s) or product line(s) to establish, improve or distinguish product placement within the competitive arena.

The Director, Software Platform will develop business plans and product positioning in the marketplace, coordinate market research, supervise competitive activity, identify customer needs, and establish pricing strategies. This individual will work with engineering, manufacturing, and sales to develop new products or improve existing product(s) or product line(s). He / She will work in a fast-paced environment in a lean organization and must be willing to roll up their sleeves to ensure the job gets completed.

Main position objectives:

  • Own SCIEX OS software platform and legacy software platform product strategy

  • Product line strategy

  • Product roadmap, including product lifecycle (EOL)

  • Product Line revenue targets by quarter and year

  • Pricing strategy

  • Guide, mentor and support the platform software product management team (commercial and technical product managers)

  • Rapidly engage product line director when project deliverables are off-track

  • Prioritize and advocate customer and business needs into the organization

  • Work cross-functionally with R+D, Sales, Marketing to support the execution of projects and manage the existing portfolio of products

  • Develop, manage, and execute on competitive analysis (win/loss), and competitive rebuttals to support the Global Commercial organization

  • Evaluate dynamic scope changes for potential business impact; provide high-level priority guidance

  • Support external customer evaluation to gain customer insight to help define SCIEX’s 3-5 year software strategy and roadmap

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in a Science (Masters or Ph.D. would be desirable), Business Administration or related field

  • 10 years of relevant industry experience with demonstrated intimate knowledge of Mass Spectrometry software

  • 7+ years hands-on software experience

  • 3+ years managing a product management team

  • Experience in working in agile teams

  • Ability to perform exceptionally in fast paced, performance-oriented environment

  • Experience working in a global environment

  • This position requires travel to customer and non-customer sites globally, with additional travel to trade shows and SCIEX sites (minimum 30%).
