Staples’ Enterprise Data, Analytics & Architecture team provides the data, systems, and architecture to enable a data driven organization. Through the work in our domain, we will create and manage the lifecycle of data that powers the digital experience, enable sales and marketing throughout the customer journey by providing a Customer centric focus, align and consolidate data from across the enterprise to provide timely analytics and insights for making informed conclusions and guide/enable strategies to simplify, standardize, and modernize technology through system and data architecture.
The Director of Engineering for Merchandising and Marketing Platforms partners and collaborates with both the business and technical teams to innovate and deliver new features and enhancements. The position is responsible for providing Merchandising Master Data Management (Item, Pricing and Promotions), Marketing Tools, and related technology expertise on design, architecture, and platform build out to support our Commerce, Sales and Customer Service Channels.
This position oversees managers, architects, and engineers and interacts with other cross functional teams including Product Management, Project Management, Quality Assurance, Operations teams etc. to develop innovative solutions that meet Digital Commerce needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to development goals.
What You’ll Do
Enable the Pricing, Merchandising and Marketing organization from a technical perspective
Manage wide variety of products with varying levels of maturity with an opportunity to influence innovation and business change
Provide strategic insights for engineering and software methodologies as well as technology solutions
Partner with key stakeholders across the enterprise to deliver on our strategy and enable the business
Identify resource needs to deliver on product roadmaps
Manage to budgetary expectations
Influence the continued maturity of Agile and SaFe standards
Enable transition to Cloud-centric, API first organization

The Skills You Bring
12+ years of experience in related field
Bachelors degree or 10+ years experience in a related field
5+ years of hands on technical experience
Minimum of 5 years experience at a digital commerce company
Experience managing a sizeable budget
5+ years experience building a high performing team
