e National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC), Operations, Management, and Information Division (OMI) serves as the focal point for the NEFSC's budget and finance functions, labor relations, strategic planning, grants and acquisition, environmental compliance and safety, personal property. OMI is responsible for the Center and Region public affairs, constituent affairs, media relations, technical editing and publishing, research libraries, and library services. Oversight of the Woods Hole Science Aquarium, a research and public display aquarium, also lies within this Division. Lynker is seeking to hire a Communications Specialist/Social Media Manager. NEFSC has a requirement to use digital platforms to present and amplify information on NEFSC accomplishments, events, and staff. The social media manager is integral to planning digital content and marketing strategies, to administering digital accounts and editorial calendars, and to developing content. The social media manager works closely with the agency?s communication team and with agency science staff to develop story ideas, content, and visual support products. Duties include the following: Participate in regular content planning meetings Provide ideas on amplifying content using social media platforms Maintain a current editorial calendar Provide content for digital platforms Create visual support products for social media such as short videos, memes, and photographs. Administer and moderate NEFSC Facebook and Twitter accounts. Complete required pre-publication review and approvals for planned posts. Monitor digital account activity, including responding to inquiries, reporting issues raised followers/commenters. Act as ?first responder? if there are security breaches, initiating the security response plan. Drive a Government vehicle Work occasional overtime in conjunction with events and content opportunities Travel within the region as required. Requirements Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree with four (4) years' experience, or Master's degree with two (2) years' experience, or PhD with one (1) year experience; degree and experience must be directly related to communications, marketing, new media, public relations, or a similar field. Knowledge, skill and ability to assist with planning and designing social media campaigns and content to support the overall editorial calendar. Knowledge, skill and ability to develop content for digital platforms, including reworking content into multiple formats, writing for digital media, and creating visual support products for social media. Knowledge, skill and ability to administer and moderate the NEFSC Facebook and Twitter accounts. Knowledge, skill and ability to produce analytics on NEFSC social media impact and to report them. Ability to use Adobe Creative Cloud photo, video, and audio production software to produce visual and audio support products for use on digital platforms. Ability to learn and conform to agency web and visualization policies, styles, guidelines, and its content management system.
