L3 Oceanserver, develops and builds Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) or Unmanned Undersea Vehicles (UUVs)) for commercial and military applications. We have an immediate opening for a Business Development Manager.

L3 OceanServer functions as an agile, innovative engineering design/build house. Our core engineering functions include complete mechanical and electrical design, and software development. Our Division manufactures and markets the Iver AUV worldwide to a mix of Commercial, Academic, Government and Military/Navy users. We have access to the resources of the greater L3 Technologies Corporation while still providing the daily feel of a small business.

The Business Development Manager will focus on the undersea domain, primarily in the areas of unmanned undersea vehicles, and related research and development. This position will conduct market research, track and analyze DOD budget documents, maintain business development related data bases, generate presentations and support proposal efforts. For designated opportunities, she/he will support a multi-disciplined, multi-divisional capture team focusing on tracking and reporting on resource expenditures, generating internal and external briefing materials, and assist with the generation and production of winning proposals and assist with the generation and production of winning proposals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support business development activities and associated functions associated with the undersea and related maritime domains

  • Conduct comprehensive research of business opportunities, budgets, and potential acquisitions

  • Conduct research and analysis of potential competitors within the defense and intelligence community markets

  • Maintain a data base of market research data

  • Prepare and give presentations on results of research activities

  • Support proposal activities

  • Coordinate with staff from other L3 divisions as necessary

  • Coordinate with support contractors for external research activities

  • Maintain a strong understanding of the competitive market

  • Conduct business development activities with impeccable ethics

  • Support full compliance with Division, Corporate, and government policies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

  • Good working knowledge of research techniques and data management

  • Ability to assess market trends that indicate business opportunities several years in the future

  • Working knowledge of and/or desire to learn the DoD acquisition processes

  • Team oriented; able to take direction and execute with minimal supervision

  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral, and presentation)

  • US Citizen

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Math, Engineering, or related discipline. Must have enough background in math and physics to understand and communicate basic engineering concepts.

  • Desire to learn about Undersea Warfare to include submarines, undersea vehicles, weapon systems, communication technologies, and associated systems

  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills (written, oral, and presentation)

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Competence in MS PowerPoint, Excel, Project and Word.

  • Must be able to obtain a US DoD Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • 5 years of combined experience in the military or defense industry

  • 2 years of experience in business development and/or US Government acquisition

  • Finance and/or business systems experience

  • Ability to travel (US primarily) approximately 10%

  • Must be a US Citizen and have or be able to obtain a secret level security clearance
