Description
The Blount family has been in the food business since 1880. Our product Line includes refrigerated and frozen gourmet soups, side dishes and entrees for food service and retail. The Company, headquartered in Fall River, MA, is the largest producer of clam chowder in New England and the largest manufacturer of Lobster bisque in the country.
The Business Development Brand Manager will have multifunctional responsibilities within the commercialization, sales and marketing areas of the business. This position is designed to develop and implement strategy, expand Blount’s capabilities and to build Blount’s licensed brand growth and equity in the market, through matching co-manufactured products with the right brand and the right customer/consumer opportunity. The keys to this role are leading cross-functional teams, driving key initiatives, and collaborating and communicating with internal and external partners. Additionally, this position will evaluate financial and market performance and deliver on the licensed brands’ revenue and market share objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Business Development Brand Manager will work across these areas:
Business Planning & Strategy
Manage Ideation and market studies with the guidance of our licensed partners
Develop the annual brand plan and calendar, regularly tracking progress and providing updates
Coordinate and manage our internal and partners “sub-committee”
Work closely with the sales team to deliver business objectives. Working directly with the Chief Customer Officer to gain trade support, adding structure and “control” of the process
Manage and deliver on the brands’ P&L. Work cross-functionally to measure and analyze sales impact, profitability, sustainability, and the ROI.
Understand the business dynamics and insights to develop new marketing and brand growth strategies. Including non-traditional channels such as ecommerce.
Innovation
Leverage consumer, customer and category insights to help develop the business innovation strategy
Lead internal and external cross functional partners from concept to commercialization. Ensuring proper planning, prioritization and execution
Research, evaluate and onboard co-manufacturers with assistance from our VP of Culinary
Define the roles of the co-manufacturer(s), Blount Fine Foods and our licensed partners
Assist in product positioning, packaging and pricing strategies
Partner Relationships
Lead the development of a co-manufacturing network consistent with strategies and objectives of Blount and our licensed brands.
Explore and evaluate feasibility with co-manufacturing partners and potential products
Manage creation of term sheet leading to signed manufacturing agreement.
Oversee test phase of order processing and shipping
Manage creation of term sheet leading to signed sub-license agreement.
Lead cross functional commercialization activities.
Facilitate dispute/issue resolution with co-manufacturers.
Operations
Design sourcing and logistical systems with co-manufacturing partners, retailers and supply chain
Work cross-functionally to provide management of co-manufacturers including administration of agreements, forecasting, supply, logistics, inventory, and planning.
Periodically review partners adherence to agreements, create and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as part of supplier scorecards.
Work with Blount Accounting and BI to set up billing and ordering process
Work with Blount Accounting to review co-manufacturing costs, budgets and manage financial performance.
Work with Blount Procurement if applicable to purchase product
Set up product specification and QA process to review with Blount QA and R&D
Communication
Provide regular communication to all parties involved with project(s)
Continuously communicate with the co-manufacturers and provide internal updates
Delegate and hold accountable self and others through each project and initiative
Communicate plans that include advertising, social media, sales materials and promotional campaigns.
Provide relevant, thorough, and insightful presentations when needed
Collaborative working style. Enthusiastically makes contributions with a positive can-do attitude
Develop a database of potential co-manufacturers and capabilities to use as part of future item development or supply.
Education and/or Experience:
S./B.A. degree in Business, Economics, Marketing, or Finance required.
5+ years related job experience in Sales, Commercialization, Marketing, or Operations required.
Must have project management/marketing experience.
Previous experience working with a Sales organization is preferred.
Experience working with retail/CPG market data sources such as IRI preferred.
