Sage Therapeutics Manager, Payer Marketing in EMAIL:, Massachusetts

General Scope and Summary

SAGE Therapeutics is searching for a creative, resourceful, collaborative, and integrative thinker for an important role in supporting key elements of Sage’s payer marketing strategy. This position is accountable for the tactical development and coordination of U.S. market access activities and supporting cross-functional efforts around the creation of materials for U.S. Account Teams, both pre-and post-launch and other high-value, high-impact activities across the team. This position will maintain a high level of collaboration and integration with other Market Access functions, Marketing, HEOR, Medical Affairs, Training, and other departments as necessary.

Roles and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • In collaboration with Brand Marketing and HEOR, execute U.S. market access strategies, including key tactical programs, payer product positioning, and messaging and metric development. Serve as a liaison with cross-functional partners to guide tactics and program development.

  • Play a key role in developing and implementing brand strategy, including marketing campaigns, digital strategy, collateral development, congresses, and vendor management.

  • Develop promotional items that integrate into & support the brand strategies and manage the regulatory and legal approval process for market access tactics and deliverables. Be responsible for MSA and SOW development, submission, review, and tracking, as appropriate, for assigned vendors and project responsibilities.

  • Support and communicate Market Access strategies in partnership with the Payer Marketing team, Head of Payer & Pricing Strategy, HEOR, Medical Affairs, and other cross-functional and senior corporate leadership, as appropriate.

  • Supports payer-marketing efforts for the Market Access field teams in customer strategy, planning and execution (e.g., training, account management tools/resources, and POA needs).

  • Provide analytical support to capture trends around coverage, distribution, and patient OOP costs.

  • Other duties as assigned, especially related to post-launch and lifecycle management efforts around and other later-stage pipeline assets, as appropriate.

Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Excellent interpersonal skills, adept at developing meaningful relationships with key stakeholders, good conflict management, and an ability to analyze complex issues to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs, and recommendations.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in business, science or technology

  • 3+ years or equivalent of demonstrated, high-impact results in the biopharmaceutical space with relevant functional experience (e.g., Market Access, Payer and/or Brand Marketing with heavy payer exposure/experience)

  • Experience partnering with health economics, pricing/contracting, trade & distribution, brand marketing, field sales (specialty)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in business, science or technology

  • Strong project management capabilities including time and events, scenario and contingency planning, and the ability to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of outputs and deliverables

  • Strong team player that has a customer service approach and is solutions oriented

  • Attention to detail and the ability to work individually, within a multi-disciplinary team, as well as with external partners and vendors

  • Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Product launch experience strongly preferred.

  • Product/brand or portfolio marketing and/or sales, with biopharmaceutical industry experience strongly preferred

  • Strong comfort with PowerPoint, Veeva, and traditional Market Access platforms (such as MMIT), highly desired.

  • Experience with developing, negotiating, and managing budget.

  • An ability to influence for greater outcomes and work effectively with senior leadership across functions
