General Scope and Summary
Sage Therapeutics is searching for a creative, resourceful, collaborative, and integrative thinker for an important role in driving Sage’s market access and brand strategies. This position is accountable for developing Sage’s market access analytics capability, including identification and sourcing of data assets, development of analytical tools and information resources, and ensuring that all cross-functional partners have a quantitative, evidence-based perspective on business opportunity and performance. This position will maintain a high level of collaboration and integration with all Market Access functions, Digital Enterprise Capabilities (DEC), Sage Leadership, and cross-functional partners from Program Teams, Marketing, HEOR, Medical Affairs, Commercial Training, and other departments as necessary.
Roles and Responsibilities
Lead the development of Sage’s market access analytic capability to ensure efficient communication of critical business information and customer insights across the organization.
Develop, in partnership with Market Access functional leaders, a reporting and analysis framework to ensure the delivery of the right information to the right functions to support evidence-based decision making.
Identify necessary data assets, drive internal alignment, negotiate with vendors, and partner with DEC on the subsequent implementation.
Ensure the staging of data is appropriate for measuring Market Access KPIs, facilitating ad-hoc analyses of business information, and linking syndicated data to internal financial data, including analytical support to capture trends around coverage, sales volume, formulary change impacts, and patient OOP costs.
Partner with cross-functional teams to conduct highly innovative research/analytics to define market access contracting and brand payer strategies and address key business questions.
Serve as the primary lead with data vendors to structure formulary access data.
Execute review of syndicated data structure in a regular cadence (run necessary research projects to update business rules).
Present payer issues, opportunities, and recommendations to stakeholder leadership teams, inform pricing and contracting evaluations and decisions, and oversee and manage the production and visualization of KPI measurements using syndicated data.
Identify and address product barriers to payer access and performance by applying advanced understanding of and experience with pricing strategies and data analytics.
Contribute to the financial forecasting process in support of regular operational and strategic business reviews.
Develop resources and analyses to assess ROI, formulary status, and pull-through initiatives.
Help develop and administer budgets, resource plans, and performance objectives for the team.
Support and communicate Market Access strategies in partnership with the Payer Marketing team, Head of Payer & Pricing Strategy, HEOR, Medical Affairs, and other cross-functional and senior corporate leadership, as appropriate.
Support payer-marketing efforts for the Market Access field teams in customer strategy, planning, and execution (e.g., training, account management tools/resources, and POA needs).
Attend various life sciences data analytics and market access association meetings to stay current on market trends.
Other duties as assigned, especially related to post-launch and lifecycle management efforts around and other later-stage pipeline assets, as appropriate.
Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Must have excellent interpersonal skills, be adept at developing meaningful relationships with key stakeholders, have good conflict management skills, and have an ability to analyze complex issues to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs, and recommendations.
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in business, science, or technology.
8+ years or equivalent of demonstrated, high-impact results in a Market Access or Commercial Analytics function.
Advanced degree in business, science, or technology.
Experience partnering with payer marketing, health economics, pricing/contracting, trade & distribution, brand marketing, and field sales.
Strong project management capabilities, including time and events, scenario and contingency planning, and the ability to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of outputs and deliverables.
Strong team player that has a customer service approach and is solutions-oriented.
Attention to detail and the ability to work individually, within a multi-disciplinary team, as well as with external partners and vendors.
Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills.
Product launch experience strongly preferred.
Product/brand or portfolio marketing and/or sales with biopharmaceutical industry experience strongly preferred.
Strong comfort with Excel, PowerPoint, Veeva, and traditional Market Access platforms (such as MMIT) is highly desired.
Experience with developing, negotiating, and managing budgets.
An ability to influence for greater outcomes and work effectively with senior leadership across functions.
