Job Title: PCA/HHA (Personal Care Assistant/Home Health Aide) Location: Harmony House Hospice Care, Chicopee, MA Position: Per Diem and Overnight Shifts Available Overview: Harmony House Hospice Care is seeking compassionate, reliable, and dedicated PCA/HHA professionals to join our team. This is a per diem and overnight position to provide high-quality care to patients at the end of life. You will support our residents with daily living activities in a peaceful, nurturing environment. Our ideal candidate is personable, patient, and can comfortably handle the slow progression of end-of-life care, understanding that it requires empathy, attention to detail, and a calm demeanor. Key Responsibilities: Companionship: Offer emotional and social support to patients, ensuring they feel comfortable and cared for. - Medication Administration: Assist in medication administration as per the care plan and under supervision as necessary. - Meals: Prepare and assist with meals, ensuring patient dietary needs and preferences are met. - Personal Care: Provide assistance with personal hygiene, including peri-care, grooming, and dressing. - Light Housekeeping: Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as cleaning the patient?s room and ensuring a clean and comfortable environment. Teamwork: Collaborate with other caregivers and healthcare professionals to ensure optimal care and smooth operations of the hospice. Qualifications: - Valid PCA/HHA certification (or equivalent experience). - Compassionate, patient, and personable demeanor with the ability to build rapport with patients. - Ability to manage slow progression of end-of-life care with sensitivity. - Comfortable working in a peaceful, calm, and sometimes slow-paced environment. - Must be able to self-entertain during slower periods, ensuring a positive and productive atmosphere for the patient. - Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to/from the hospice facility. - Ability to adhere to a drug-free, no cell phone policy, and no visitors allowed during shifts. - Must be a team player, willing to contribute to a positive working environment. Additional Requirements: - Strong communication skills and ability to follow care plans accurately. Must be reliable, flexible, and available for per-dem and overnight shifts. Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor, especially in difficult situations.
