ABOUT YOU

As Deputy Chief Legal Counsel, you are a strategic and experienced real estate attorney who excels in providing robust legal counsel to support complex real estate and development initiatives. You bring deep expertise in commercial leasing, transactional matters, and regulatory compliance, enabling you to shape and negotiate critical agreements effectively. You collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams and oversee legal strategies to ensure every action aligns with both organizational policies and evolving legal frameworks. As a leader, you also manage and guide fellow attorneys and outside counsel to deliver consistent, high-quality legal support. Through your work, you help drive sustainable growth and economic opportunity, ensuring Massport’s assets and partnerships continue to serve the Commonwealth for generations to come.

What you will do:

Oversee legal matters related to commercial real estate, development projects, long-term ground leases, and aviation leasing, ensuring compliance with laws and Massport policies.

• Negotiate, draft, and review complex real estate agreements, including leases, contracts, easements, and interagency memoranda to support Massport’s operations.

• Provide strategic legal counsel on regulatory and procedural matters, analyzing federal and state laws, preparing legal memoranda, and advising on Authority policies.

• Lead and manage attorneys within the Legal Department, oversee outside counsel on real estate projects, and contribute to legal strategy as part of the department’s leadership team.

WHAT YOU OFFER

• J.D. with expertise in legal analysis, document drafting, negotiations, and regulatory law.

• At least 10 years of complex real estate experience, including commercial leasing, development, finance, and environmental law.

• Strong ability to navigate public policy analysis, permitting, and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced environment.

• Active membership in the Massachusetts Bar.
