Job Title: Vice President of Business Development
Sumaria Systems, Inc. is a successful defense contractor which has been in business for 36 years. We are seeking a results-oriented, seasoned, strategic-minded leader to become our new Vice President of Business Development (VP of BD). This is an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated professional to assume an essential role in growing a successful small business into a thriving mid-sized company.
While preserving the corporate philosophy of the company, the VP of BD will develop and implement efficient policies and procedures to create a single corporate venue for BD configuration control followed throughout the complete process.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the President, the VP of BD will lead all business development activities within an annual budget. Under the VP of BD-s leadership, the BD & BP team will expand the company-s business base organically with current customers; develop new business opportunities under existing Government umbrella contracts and certifications; and identify, evaluate and pursue strategic opportunities with new Government customers and teaming agreements with other Government contractors facilitation continued company growth and a transition from small business set-asides to full and open contracts.
Specifically, the VP of BD shall have the following responsibilities, but not limited to:
While building existing business; grow the Company by identifying and developing new business opportunities/growth areas and maintaining valuable relationships with Government Program Officers and other contractors.
Visit current customer offices to reinforce the corporate vision and mission with all site employees, meet with customer program officers to assess the company-s performance and review additional service opportunities with each customer.
Accelerate a transition from the Small Business set-aside environment into a full and open organization
Ensure the continued growth and success of the Company through strategic BD planning, team building, development of policies and procedures to instill team collaboration and discipline, and maintaining centralized lists of all DP and BP activities, proposals submitted, bids won and lost to ensure continuity of marketing activities and analyze patterns of success.
Provide on-going support and expertise to all management personnel, leading and assisting them in establishing and meeting Company financial goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications and/or Skills:
Strong, demonstrated communication and organizational skills
Demonstrated energetic, insightful, inspirational, and accountable team leadership
Proactive, strategic, enthusiastic approaches to solving issues and mitigating risk
A proven track record of building and leading a disciplined BD team that meets or exceeds contract growth goals
Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Strong presentation and negotiating skills
Contracts and negotiation experience
Strong understanding of DFAR and FAR
DoD security clearance at the Top Secret level
Required Education and Experience:
10-15 years Defense industry experience to include 5 -10 years of Senior Management Experience or Executive Level experience.
