Polymers & Fluids segment is composed of highly branded products serving diverse markets that require value-added, differentiated solutions. These product offerings include adhesives, sealants, coatings, lubricants, additives, and cleaners for Transportation, Electronics, automotive aftermarket, MRO, Industrial Cleaning and Lubrication, New Energy, and Marine industry customers with unique needs. The Strategic Marketing (Product) Manager role is highly involved in defining and executing the strategy for the Industrial OEM segment for ITW Performance Polymers. He/she will be responsible for working together with Sales to develop new business opportunities in order to meet or exceed the company’s growth targets. He/she will lead Voice-of-Customer (VOC) initiatives to identify market insights and trends and turn them into new product commercialization opportunities. This role will also be responsible for actively managing our product portfolio as well as collaborating with Marketing Communications to develop sales tools that effectively communicate our value proposition. This role will be based remote and will work within a cross-functional organization to help drive dynamic performance in all areas.
Develop short- and long-term strategy and ensure successful implementation to drive segment revenue and market share growth
Develop a thorough understanding of technology, applications, performance requirements of the target market; establish strong relationships with customer to better understand the market dynamics, customers’ present and future needs and translate them into business growth opportunities
Develop the basis for differentiation and competitive advantage in target segments; Devise our value proposition across the different segments and train our commercial team and channel partners to effectively deliver the value proposition
Define, structure and execute VOC initiatives to identify market needs and opportunities that result in a strong product/technology roadmap
Create business case for new product opportunities; work closely with cross-functional team via the stage-gate process to successfully launch new products to deliver on NPI metrics.
Analyze market trends and opportunities and manage product life cycle to recommend product portfolio changes and improvements.
Collaborate with Technical Services to conduct competitor analysis and develop plan to drive product differentiation
Collaborate with Marcomm to define and manage creation of marketing content and collaterals for both print and digital platforms; participate in tradeshows to increase brand awareness and lead generation.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related field from four-year college or university. MBA preferred.
5+ years’ experience working in B2B business. Specialty Chemical industry experience preferred.
Proven track record of delivering business growth in a Strategic Marketing / Business Development role.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills, and able to make strategic and operational decisions.
Strong sense of urgency and ownership
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Domestic travel required - typically 30-40%.
