Market Development Manager, North East Region - Infectious Diseases

Janssen Therapeutics, a division of Janssen Products LP, is currently recruiting for a Market Development Manager, Infectious Diseases (ID). This position will report to the Sr. Field Manager, Market Development, Consumer & Market Access Marketing and is part of the HIV Consumer & Market Access Marketing organization.

The Market Development Manager will:

  • Be responsible for compliantly achieving identified business objectives and support activities.

  • Demonstrate a mastery of Janssen Therapeutics products’ clinical efficacy and a deep understanding of his or her market; articulate a value proposition for the customer; build excellent customer relations with key customers and accounts, as well as conduct customer in-services.

  • Identify business initiatives, develop customer relationships and effectively demonstrate the value proposition of the HIV portfolio as a solution to identified customer needs.

  • Successfully develop and implement a regionally focused business plan with targeted objectives aligned to the HIV business plan including:

  • Partner with Ryan White Eligible Metropolitan Areas (EMAs) and Transitional Grant Areas (TGAs), Departments of Health, and other jurisdictions

  • Positively impact patient access to care, continuity of care, and quality of care with Ryan White programs and other prioritized accounts

  • Expand patient access to our existing and future HIV treatment & prevention portfolio

  • Pilot / implement approved approaches to patient access & reimbursement assistance

  • Explore, identify and prioritize national/regional business opportunities that are aligned with current HIV brand strategies and future franchise opportunities.

  • Build collaborative relationships with advocacy, policy and access influencers

  • Collaborate with the Strategic Customer Group (SCG) to ensure effective representation of HIV market & portfolio needs with payers

  • Develop insights to inform launch of future HIV vaccine

  • Ensure alignment to key business strategies, provide feedback and key insights necessary to adapt and improve current national & regional strategies and HIV marketing initiatives

  • Build relationships with key Regional level thought leaders and Population Health Decision Makers, especially within public health systems to support ID Brand Strategic Imperatives

  • Apply a range of large account management, consultative skills, and clinical expertise to build support for our portfolio of products and enhance our status with customers

  • Stay up-to-date on the latest access and reimbursement issues and market trends to shape future opportunities and develop emerging stakeholder relationships

  • Work collaboratively with internal business partners, including but not limited to, Brand, Field Sales, Strategic Customer Group, and Medical Affairs, as appropriate to address market needs, maximize efforts, and achieve business goals

  • Where appropriate & compliant, set financial objectives for contracts, model options, and present business case (internally) for proposed offer, negotiate and finalize contract terms

  • Monitor policy discussions and activate internal colleagues and external collaborators when needed

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor Degree is required

  • Must reside within the geography

  • Preference would be for location in major metropolitan area: New York City, Boston, Hartford

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in one or more of the following areas is required:

  • Professional Pharmaceutical sales, including Specialty and/or Institutional sales

  • Business to Business Account Management

  • Multi-disciplinary Pharmaceutical Business

  • Public Health

  • Previous HIV or specialty therapeutic area experience is preferred

  • A strong command of public health systems, the Federal HIV End the Epidemic plan, managed markets and a working knowledge of public and private payers (including Medicaid, ADAP & Commercial, etc.) is preferred

  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. Healthcare industry and climate, including an understanding of key stakeholders and delivery of care models is preferred

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Experience in developing and implementing business plans, including identification, evaluation, and impact of opportunities

  • The ability to travel, which may include overnight / weekend travel, up to 70% of the time, in support of the business, is required

  • A valid driver’s license issued in one (1) of the fifty (50) United States and a clean driving record is required

  • Candidates must satisfy reasonable credentialing requirements, including, but not limited to TB tests, Hepatitis B vaccine, MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) and Varicella (chicken pox).
