Job Description

The Producer will be involved in creating and developing content (including scripts) for all live sporting events, Coaches Shows, special segments, special interest stories and other athletic department programming used to promote BC athletics. The position will assist with other important aspects of all Boston College’s broadcasts, both Internal and External. This includes production planning, production and collaborating with External Affairs, Athletic Communications and Interactive Media on the dissemination of content post production.

This position will assist in identifying and selecting (under the direction of the Director) professional game day personnel that will produce all external and internal broadcasts. These staff members also include play by play announcers and color commentators. This responsibility also includes staying within a game day production budget given by the Director of the ACC Network. The Producer will also be asked to train production staff and supervise the progress of a live broadcast or taped project from pre-production to post-production.

In addition, the position will also be tasked to use their exisiting creative production techniques to enhance all network content. He/She must be able to collaborate with the network Director, other producers, engineers and other key participants about production details and to help facilitate the creation of the “run of show” for live broadcasts and all multimedia content. Additionally, the Producer must be able to operate (and instruct others) a camera and be able to record and edit video and sound projects, including selecting program format for final output, capturing/importing media, organizing raw media, editing footage and sound files, creating and inserting static and motion graphics, titling, adding music/voice-over/sfx, media management and archiving project media. The Producer must also be knowledgeable of the changing landscape of live broadcasts with respect to what’s new and accepted in the industry.

Requirements

Familiarity with the following systems:

  • Audio: Poweredand passive speakers,mixing consoles, wireless and wired microphones, audio recorders, signal flow, DANTE Transport.

  • Video: Video switching systems-specifically Ross Carbonite, signalflow

  • Post production: Post-production entails digital video editing, still and motion graphics design, and video compression for multiple delivery platforms

  • Computers: Mac and PC literate, PowerPoint proficient, Microsoft Office proficient

  • Experience with Adobe Video Editing Systems

  • Experience with Daktronics Technologies

  • HD/SD Filming

  • Proficiency in encodingvideo for various deliverables Time and Resource Management

  • Graphic Creation and Deployment- Specifically Ross Xpressions

  • Experience with After Effects and Photoshop Documentation Skills

  • Troubleshooting Skills

Additional requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Master’s preferred

  • Formal Experience/Education in Athletic Management is a plus

  • Trained on Ross multiple platforms is a plus

  • 1+ years of experience in the broadcasting industry

  • 1+ years of producing/directing linear and digital broadcasts

  • 2+ years experience in video control room environment

  • 2+ years experience in script contributing or writing.

  • Leadership skills

  • Ability to take direction and maintain good relationship with staff
