Job Description

The Associate/Senior Associate Director, Major Giving, reports to the Regional Director, Major Giving and is responsible for the qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individuals primarily in Los Angeles and Southern CA who are capable of making gifts of $250K to $ 4.9M. The Associate/Sr. Associate Director is responsible for conducting, at a minimum, 132 meetings and raising $1M-$1.5M annually. To be successful in meeting those goals, the Associate/Senior Associate Director is expected to devise creative strategies for guiding the relationship and for the ultimate solicitation of prospects. The Associate/Senior Associate Director writes effective solicitation letters and proposals and demonstrates strategic relationship management to maximize fundraising productivity, provides staff support for volunteer committees as assigned and develops productive working relationships with key volunteers.

Critical to the success of this position will be the ability to effectively collaborate & partner with fellow major gift officers, as well as other fundraising units including Athletic Development, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Gift Planning, Leadership & Annual Giving, and School Development. Productivity will be measured through individual performance.

Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and hiring ranges:

First Level Associate Director (1-3 years of fundraising or directly related experience): $96,100 - $120,100

Second Level Associate Director (3-5 years of fundraising or directly related experience): $108,700 - $135,850

Senior Associate Director (5-7 years of fundraising or directly related experience): $119,950 - $149,950

Requirements

This position requires a Bachelor's degree, and for the first level Associate Director, 1-3 years directly related experience successfully closing gifts of $50,000 or more; for the second level Associate Director, 3-5 years directly related fundraising experience successfully closing gifts of $100,000 or more; for the Senior Associate Director, 5-7 years directly related fundraising experience successfully closing gifts of $250,000 or more, all levels preferably performed in a complex higher education environment. Travel and some evening and weekend work is required to be successful. A valid driver’s license is required. A demonstrated ability to speak and write persuasively about higher education and the Jesuit tradition is expected. Proficiency with technology and relevant software applications, such as e-mail, MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint is also expected.
