Reporting to the Director of Alumni Class and School Engagement, the incumbent is responsible for the management & execution of the BC Law School alumni relations & volunteer engagement strategy as well as additional school & class based engagement programming including but not limited to Reunion Weekend & associated volunteer recruitment & committee management. S/he actively contributes to team-based strategic discussions & creative brainstorming about the overall advancement plan, including volunteer leadership engagement, alumni outreach, alumni communications, & strategic involvement. The goal of this position is to effectively manage alumni volunteers, develop & provide meaningful volunteer leadership opportunities through board & councils, annual events, & other engagements initiatives. Responsibilities ?Working with the Director of Alumni Class and School Engagement to create a vision & annual program plan for the Law School & additional alumni constituencies within the assigned school based engagement areas of focus. Manage the year-round activities and the subcommittees that fall within this portfolio. ?Oversee the alumni affinity groups including the Black Alumni Network. Recruit/retain, train & manage alumni volunteer leaders including the Law Day Committee, BC Law Alumni Board & Boston GOLD Committee. Build & steward new affinity groups to respond to alumni interest as assigned. ?Working with alumni affinity groups, & other volunteer leader groups as assigned; plan & execute special small group cultivation events that are focused on deepening the engagement of the defined target audiences. Duties include; managing budgets & timelines; confirming speakers; all in accordance with best practices followed across UA. ?Serve as a liaison with campus partners in career services and admissions, and with student organizations such as those that align with alumni interests (e.g., Business Law Society, Women Law Society, AHANAs, etc.). Serve as point person for the department?s campus programs where alumni are not the primary target audience such as commencement, law school academic conferences, and major law school campus speaker events. ?Develop new, compelling opportunities that deepen alumni connections to the law school as well as other schools and class committees as assigned. Requirements This position requires a Bachelor?s degree & for the first level Assistant Director, a minimum of 1-3 years of serving in an alumni relations role is required or a combination of alumni relations responsibilities along with annual giving, event planning, development, or other related work experience. For the second level Assistant Director, a minimum of 1-3 years of professional level alumni relations experience or a combination of alumni relations & directly related professional level experience such as event planning, development or volunteer management is required, preferably at an institution of higher education. Experience managing volunteers boards or councils is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, & PowerPoint is necessary. Experience with a sophisticated alumni or constituency database software is strongly preferred. Prior fundraising experience as well as a proven track record in soliciting & closing gifts is required. Some travel, evening & weekend work is required.
