Kayem Foods, Inc. Brand Manager Innovation in Chelsea, Massachusetts

Kayem Foods is looking for a Brand Manager of Innovation to join our team to lead new product innovation and efforts to identify strategic distribution opportunities to drive growth for the al fresco brand. This role will report to the Director of Marketing.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Identify new business opportunities for the al fresco brand in all natural chicken.

  • Build compelling business cases that demonstrate a deep understanding of consumer insights, unmet needs, marketplace trends, competitive environment and customer interest.

  • Lead consumer research efforts in partnership with research partners at each stage of the product innovation process.

o Lead brand innovation and product pipeline for the retail and food service space in the development and launching of new products, working with cross functional teams made up of internal and external resources (R&D, operations, finance, sales, packaging design, research, licensed partners, agency partners, etc.).

  • Work in partnership with Kayem Brand Manager and R&D Innovation Manager to take a critical eye to existing innovation processes in order to incorporate industry best practices and ultimately achieve faster speed to market. Goal will be to evolve, refine, document and socialize the product innovation process for the Kayem organization.

o Present business cases and selling stories to leadership and sales teams. Be able to present to key retailers when called upon.

  • Once product line is launched and established, hand-off to brand marketing team, so that focus can be on next new business opportunity.

  • Serve as brand team lead, working in partnership with sales team leadership, to identify strategic distribution opportunities to drive growth through innovation for the al fresco brand.

  • Work closely with sales partners, shopper insights analyst and al fresco brand team to identify and rank new distribution opportunities taking into account category trends, competition and rest of market brand performance.

  • Develop account specific selling stories, product mix and new product line extensions to target new business.

Skills and Requirements:

  • MBA preferred but related experience with a BA/BS will be taken highly into consideration (CPG, project management, or in a related business field)

  • Prefer a candidate that is currently a Brand Manager, Innovation Manager, or seasoned Associate Brand Manager.

  • Preferred candidates will have experience leading or being highly involved with an innovation process

  • Strong analytical orientation

  • Must understand a P&L and key cost drivers

  • Experience with and understanding of consumer research used at each stage of innovation process

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills

  • Highly collaborative within a diverse cross functional team

  • Thrives in unstructured environments with no such thing as a typical day

  • Self-starter who is more than willing to roll up their sleeves to advance project work

  • Willing and capable to undertake work that may be beyond job description and in an ever-changing environment

  • Commitment to results; ability to incorporate new learning into existing plans.

  • Ability to recognize the need for process improvement and take the needed action to implement new process

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Exceptional organizational skills required. Ability to meet designated deadlines.

  • Ability to work well in ambiguous situations and manage the situation to a clear and concise outcome

  • Working knowledge of MS Office products including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook

  • Preferred candidates will have experience with IRI or other sales reporting systems

  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate clearly in English.
