State of Massachusetts Warehouse Technician - Contractor in Canton, Massachusetts
The Massachusetts Commission for the Blind (MCB) is seeking a part-time contracted Warehouse Technician Contractor to be responsible for the receiving, packaging, and shipping of materials, updating inventory levels, adjusting shelved items accordingly, and maintaining the general upkeep of the warehouse inventory and related areas for the Massachusetts Accessible Instructional Materials (AIM) Library. The AIM Library is the statewide resource center distributing over 8,000 materials to over 3,000 students a year. It is focused on the mission of ensuring timely delivery of specialized instructional materials to support and improve the quality of education for Pre-K to 12th grade students who are blind or visually impaired residing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This contracted position reports to the Director of the AIM Library and works in a warehouse located in Canton, MA. The contracted position is in effect until June 30, 2023. The extension of this contracted position is contingent upon funding availability and approval. _General Summary of Duties and Responsibilities (note: this list is not all inclusive):_ * Packs, ships, and documents outgoing materials, updates inventory levels, catalogues, and shelves items accordingly. * Documents incoming materials and reviews against packing slips * Maintains inventory database, tallies inventory shipments, and reports usage trends to Director. * Maintains the general upkeep of the AIM Library inventory and related areas, adhering to health and safety protocols and practices to support a clean, safe environment. * Works cooperatively with AIM Library staff regarding warranty, repair, and replacement of materials * Travels to other buildings as assigned to retrieve and/or drop off materials as assigned. * Submits ship reports to the AIM Library Registration Coordinator. _Qualifications:_ * Knowledge of the principles and procedures for the receipt and distribution of materials and equipment and methods of inventory control as well as proper storage methods. * Ability to work independently, and as a team member, effectively in a dynamic, time-sensitive, high-volume office and inventory environment with attention to detail and the capacity to prioritize tasks appropriately * Ability to record and maintain data and documents accurately. * Capacity to learn and apply information about AIM Library inventory materials and agency policies and procedures. * Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in both written and oral expression to convey information. * Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, and Word). * Strong customer service skills. Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with others. _Additional Information:_ * Benefits are unavailable except for sick leave accruals. * AIM Library hours are 7:30am to 3:30pm * All employees will be paid on a biweekly basis and must have direct deposit. * The salary for this position is $25 an hour. Please note that pursuant to Massachusetts General laws, contracted employees are not paid for the twelve scheduled holidays, do not receive any paid vacation, personal leave benefits or contribute to the state retirement system or social security.
