The Vice President of Business Winning is a new position reporting to the President and CEO. We are seeking an experienced, APMP-certified Business Winning professional to revamp Draper’s capture and proposal processes to support our growth projections. As such, we desire to implement the Shipley capture and proposal process adapted to an agile R&D organization with the intentions of achieving best in class win and capture rates. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in government contracting capture and proposal management and have a track record of establishing world-class processes and training regimens to drive capture and win rates.
Our core R&D business requires a nuanced approach to proposal and capture management. Agile processes are required to support small, study-type proposals while also effectively responding to large system development solicitations. This role will establish those processes and drive consistency of application – and thereby enhance the Draper brand amongst our customer and the broader National Security ecosystem. This position will work closely with the Business Areas, Strategic Initiatives Office, Engineering, Contracts, Communications, and many more functions. Effective presentation and communication skills are essential, as is a passion for supporting technology development in the national interest. Developing the proposal and capture management processes consistent with the Shipley process adapted for DOD R&D
Developing training and executing a training program
Establishing metrics of success and fostering an environment of continuous improvement that leads to best in class win and capture rates
Hiring and managing a group of 2-3 supporting staff
Draper has a hybrid workforce and 1-2 days per week of work-from-home is available to this position. Occasional travel to Draper’s regional offices will be required to support staff at those locations. This role can be based in any of Draper's facilities.
20+ years of capture and proposal experience in a government contract setting leveraging Shipley capture and proposal process; tailoring to DOD R&D experience strongly preferred
Association of Proposal Management Professional (APMP) certification
Experience with continuous process improvement – including establishing and tracking performance metrics that drive best in class win and capture rates
Expertise in leading and managing training in capture and proposal process for a $1B+ enterprise
- Active DoD Top Secret and Special Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) desired
- Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
