Sanofi Group US Digital Country Lead in Cambridge, Massachusetts
Summary of the Role
The digital business mission is to enable the balance of business growth with accelerated business transformation through best-in-class leading digital innovation and strong operational excellence that enable customers, and patients to have meaningful and positive interaction with Sanofi medicines, products and services that contribute positively to company growth and bottom-line results.
Working hand in hand with country GBU Heads, the digital country lead (DCL, she/he) will define and align on the country Digital roadmap & priorities, identify new digital opportunities that enable growth, prioritize the business unit wide digital initiatives, ensure consistency, and scalability across all digital initiatives, and act as a change catalyst as well as a digital business thought leader in the business unit leadership team.
The Digital Country Lead will work to transform the mindset of the affiliate while supporting business priorities and avoid (i) any fragmentation of the ecosystem through improvised local solutions and (ii) the duplication and overlap of functions and activities related to digital topics while ensuring that business priorities are achieved.
The US Digital Country Lead is responsible for country digital strategy and execution including:
Based upon the global company priorities, define glocal digital priorities and ensure their roll out in line with company priorities by working closely with global digital GBUs, digital commerce, digital data, infrastructure, and tech as well as local GBUs (SC, GenMed, Vaccines), BO&S and medical teams.
Establish One Sanofi strategic local big tickets with a perfect alignment of all GBUs top priorities and with ROI based on outcomes.
Partner with local business & medical teams and global digital teams to accelerate country business transformation via defining a single country digital roadmap, taking the ownership for fast execution and chairing country digital acceleration council for regular check on the progress.
Ensure fast & seamless delivery at country level, working transversally with digital tech, digital data and digital commerce and other relevant functions. She/He will be arbitrating across digital functions to deliver a one Sanofi roadmap for the country.
Ensure consistency across GBUs and with global digital strategy and scalability.
Support and foster accelerated adoption at country level.
Bring outside in external best practices to be applied in our businesses to improve BOI contribution.
Support simplification of processes to enhance agility and speed of local execution and achievement of priorities.
Key responsibilities
Accountable for the country digital strategy & country roll out based on business priorities and the rapidly changing ecosystem.
Animates the US Digital Business Acceleration Board together with the US Country lead.
Boost the digital transformation and change management mindset within the affiliate.
Influence to have more agile and don data driven decisions making processes within the affiliate.
Establish the appropriate narrative of Digital scope and ways of working, eliminating definitively any proxy with the past “ITS” set-up.
Relentlessly focus on business growth objectives, customer, and patient’s needs, while aligned with the overall global Sanofi digital strategy.
Unify country plans into clear and coherent X-GBU digital strategy with clearly defined positive impact outcomes.
Proactive prioritization of digital initiatives against business unit strategy, establishing a 360-degree and omnichannel approach to enable the best experience for our customers e.g., HCP’s, nurses, pharmacists, commercial clients, administrative people, and patients where appropriate.
Actively making sure that the digital strategy is followed through with best-in-class execution and delivery of the of digital initiatives at market level.
Establish or drive adoption of good practices that maximize value of digital assets, while minimizing risks.
Avoid the fragmentation of the local ecosystem.
Actively monitor, identify, and bring out-side in insights and opportunities from the rapidly changing competitive landscape to shape digital strategy and adjust execution.
Have a strong leadership (transversal leadership, navigate in political arena, clear ambition to create result, challenge, making arbitration between multiple choices for high impact creation).
Be the ambassador of big tickets approach to enhance overall prioritization, generating less initiatives with more impact in performance.
Boost simplification and drive ROI based on outcomes.
Do an inventory of resources to avoid any duplication or overlap of functions and activities related to digital topics within the affiliate.
Build actively digital talent and capabilities in the organization through a combination of developing current staff and attracting new talent.
Be accountable for the business continuity supported by operational excellence for the country working closely with the Global Digital teams.
Provide leadership in time of crisis related to business in scope and have an active participation in the design of the most effective and robust BCP for the affiliate.
Strategy
Accountable to execute digital strategy with a global mindset.
Work with teams across the GBU and Sanofi Global Digital to apply executional best practices (both technical and empathetic) on innovative digital solutions for products, services, processes, and experiences at country level (lead local transformation).
Jointly establish mechanisms to measure results, establish a practice of lessons learned, resolve obstacles, and keep leadership appraised of metrics and value brought by digital efforts to patients, customers, regulators, and colleagues.
Set the agenda and drive the recurring Digital Business Acceleration Council (DBAC) as the country strategy review and decision-making forum.
Talent & People
Accountable to actively empower and develop people.
Comprehensive team management, including goalsetting, people development, capability building, succession planning, and continuous performance appraisal.
Drive clarity on roles of digital leadership within GBUs and with other stakeholders, ensuring remit and oversight of full digital portfolio.
Create an environment of empathetic risk-taking and fast learning.
Ensure availability and access to digital, innovation and technical training and development programs.
Nominate the teams for and celebrate when teams are recognized with internal and external professional awards.
Partnerships / Main Interfaces
Strategic advisor to the country GBUs:
Provide strategic vision, supporting GBUs in defining their digital strategic roadmap, translating their priority must wins battles into the big tickets and digital value streams.
Behave as a business partner, proactively providing strategic counsels to overcome potential roadblocks to accelerate digital transformation.
Orchestrator, coordinating build and delivery of digital products locally together with global Digital teams based on the Digital GBU roadmap.
Be the one consistent front from Digital, simplifying the interface between GBUs and digital ecosystem.
Reports to the Head of Digital GBUs, part of the Digital Business Leadership (DBLT).
Works hand in hand with the US country GMs, and their respective leadership teams.
Closely collaborates with the Local commercial excellence / BOS functions.
ABOUT YOU
Requirements
Possesses a strong business acumen, combined with strong understanding of digital.
Broad understanding of the technology context and its implication on business.
Strong Leadership and stakeholder management experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience, 3-5 years senior leadership experience, 5-10 years industry experience with a strong broad knowledge of technology. Strong leadership (transversal leadership, navigate in political arena, clear ambition to create result, challenge, making arbitration between multiple choices for high impact creation).
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required. A master’s degree in Science, Engineering, or MBA degree is preferred.
Robust end-to-end view of the company’s operations with preference in the US.
Experience with Agile methodology and Lean or 6-sigma is a very relevant plus.
Diverse experience in different geographical and cultural settings are a plus.
Seasoned leader with outstanding communication and presentation skills.
Proven record of creating and implementing successful digital initiatives.
Successful management of large digital and technology initiatives especially.
Successful at building a culture of performance and accountability.
Proven record of developing people, capabilities, and leadership skills.
Demonstrating a positive result orientation, problem solving attitude & a “getting things done” mentality.
Able to work effectively in a matrixed, multi-cultural, global organization.

This position may require up to 10 - 20 % overall business travel.
Native Fluency in English is a must, X fluency a plus.
