Meet Our Team:

Pega’s Technical Documentation team is seeking a highly motivated leader to help us manage a team to implement a new vision for world-class technical documentation content. This team is accountable for enabling our large ecosystem of customers, partners, and internal consultants on our technology so that they can successfully implement and maintain applications yielding customer success.

This team is responsible for creating technical documentation for our core Pega Platform™ product focusing on our Pega Cloud services, DevOps, Security, System Administration, and Install/Upgrade capabilities. This group works collaboratively with the product owners, engineers, curriculum developers, and various subject matter experts to create new ways of developing and delivering best-in-class documentation.

In this position, you will manage a team of 8 technical documentation specialists to achieve their highest potential both individually and collectively as a team. You will acquire deep technical product knowledge on the Pega Platform to ensure documentation content produced by the team is technically accurate, promotes best practices, and efficiently and effectively enables the consumer to achieve the desired outcome. You will model Pega’s four critical success behaviors of Excellence with Sense of Urgency, Accountability with Transparency, Collaboration with Alignment, and Learning with Empathy. You will serve as a coach and mentor to the team by reviewing content, providing constructive feedback, and offering technical and writing support. You will continually monitor content development progress and adjust priorities as needed to ensure the success of the team and that deliverables meet established release deadlines.

What You'll Do at Pega:

  • Gain deep knowledge of Pega Platform™.

  • Deliver quality best practice documentation that clearly identifies business value, the steps to achieve the desired outcome, and includes supporting examples to further illustrate concepts and use cases

  • Build strong relationships with Product Owners to ensure all content developed is in accordance to product best practices, use case models, and presentation techniques

  • Seek stakeholders feedback and achieve alignment on documentation structure and content

  • Leverage business intelligence to help make informed content decisions

  • Conduct team member content reviews and provide constructive feedback and ensure adherence to high standards

  • Drive processes and best practice standards for content development, publication, and distribution

  • Mentor and coach team members to achieve their best performance on the four Pega success behaviors. Conduct periodic and annual performance reviews of team members

  • Provide thought-leadership to team members to enhance the effectiveness of documentation

  • Increase team velocity by driving process improvement

Who You Are:

You are a Lead Technical Writer or Manager with strong technical acumen within software development. Capable of managing a Technical Documentation team that enables our learners with Pegasystems’ products.

You have a track record of growing team members to achieve new heights through coaching and mentoring. The ideal candidate will welcome the opportunity to constantly learn the latest product features and capabilities at a quick pace to keep up with product enhancements and changes in the team’s design and development processes.

What You've Accomplished:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technical Writing, or equivalent on the job experience

  • Minimum 5 years leadership experience as a project lead or manager of a 5+ member technical documentation team

  • Proven history of strategy execution with metrics to measure achievements

  • Evidence of meeting or exceeding project deliverables under challenging circumstances.

  • Experience designing and writing task-based user and developer documentation in an XML/DITA, structured authoring environment

  • Ability to write technical content according to priority and scope set by Product Owner

  • Outstanding written and verbal English communication skills, with proven ability to communicate and clearly present technical information to others

  • Understanding of object-oriented design and programming principles

  • Proficient working knowledge of project implementation methodologies such as Scrum and related project management tools

  • System and Senior System Architect Certifications (required after joining Pegasystems within four months)

  • Scrum Master certification a plus
