Sage Therapeutics Sr. Director, Corporate Communications in Cambridge, Massachusetts

Sage Therapeutics is searching for a creative, resourceful and collaborative Senior Director of Corporate Communications. You will play a critical role executing Sage’s integrated communications program, building our brand and positioning Sage as a leader in brain health by communicating the breadth and value of Sage’s pipeline and working with colleagues throughout the organization to communicate information about our science, strategy, and potential impact on the world.

This role will report into the Vice President of Corporate Communications, in line to the Chief financial Officer.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Understand Sage’s strategy and objectives to develop and drive execution of integrated, 360-degree surround sound corporate communications programs for Sage and its pipeline products.

  • Create and/or supervise the execution of public relations and reputation management campaigns to ensure that stakeholders understand Sage’s leadership in brain health, view product milestones in context, and synergize communications across multiple channels to optimize audience reach.

  • Serve as communications counselor to senior leadership team on specific external communications activities including, but not limited to: media interviews, conference speaking and thought leadership opportunities, and communications materials development. This includes preparing corporate spokespeople for media interviews and external presentations.

  • Strategically partner with senior leadership and functional heads, such as the Leadership Team, HR, Clinical and Medical Affairs, R&D, Commercial, General Counsel, Investor Relations, and others to assist with their external communications needs.

  • Work with Sage’s digital and social media team to optimize cross-functional synergies across all Sage-owned social and digital properties, and ensure digital/social governance strategy, content ownership and management strategy aligns with the Company’s business objectives.

  • Measure and evaluate success against communications goals, and oversee quarterly metrics reports and dashboards.

  • Manage external agencies.

Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Must thrive working in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to develop important relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, good conflict management and negotiation skills. Ability to analyze complex issues to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs and recommendations and demonstrated ability to translate strategy into action; ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way and to orchestrate plans to resolve issues and mitigate risks.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree. Strong educational background in communications, business management and marketing.

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in corporate communications, preferably in-house in a biotech and/or pharmaceutical company and specifically prescription drug launch experience. Experience consulting with key business stakeholders and senior leadership across an organization.
