Job Description:

This role presents an exciting opportunity for a procurement professional to join BeiGene’s global procurement team and an organization that values individualism, speed, efficiency, and pragmatism. Reporting to the Senior Procurement Director – Head of Procurement for Global Commercial Spend, The Sourcing Manager of Commercial Spend (ex-China Market) will be accountable for supporting and optimizing the related spend for all Marketing Services and MICE.

Who you are:

A procurement professional who has over 5-10 years of category procurement experience, with at least 5 years of leading procurement experience in support of sales and marketing related activities. You understand the market structure, key players and the levers that can be used to ensure the right trade-off between cost and quality. You are well versed in the contract nuances relative to the category (meeting and events; market research, creative and exhibition, medical service, media and public relation, digital and etc.) and are accustomed to working with internal and external stakeholder relationships to ensure service levels and customer satisfaction are met.

You have a naturally curious mind and thrive on uncertainty and ambiguity and relish the opportunity to engage with multiple stakeholders to understand their needs and partner with functional leadership to explore the best way needs can be met.

Culturally you will have had exposure to working in US and can operate with suppliers in all countries mainly in North America and Europe.

The Role:

The Sourcing Category Manager leads proactive category projects to support the delivery of global procurement targets, spanning sourcing projects, demand management and process re-engineering, as well as managing supplier performance and innovation activities.

The position is responsible for guiding data analysis (e.g., Data mining of Procurement and Financial Systems, output analysis and interpretation), supporting market intelligence in the category area and acting as the focal point for category subject matter expertise to the ex-China business and procurement community.

In addition, the Sourcing Manager will ensure appropriate Supplier Relationship Management efforts are implemented; the objective of which is to ensure performance delivery, continuous improvement, and access to innovation from supplier arrangements to achieve value contribution targets on a global basis.

Through the application of regional Category Management and sourcing tools, systems, and techniques, the Sourcing Manager will deliver business value (operational and financial) in line with the agreed functional and business goals. In addition, they may take personal ownership of complex project-based procurement projects beyond their category scope.

Accountabilities:

Collate supplier, market, category and internal business data and information for the category and provide regional input to the Category Strategy, including facilitating involvement of relevant stakeholders. Using this as a basis, the manger will communicate and distribute the global category strategies to relevant stakeholders in the procurement and business community. To ensure the Strategies developed will be aligned appropriately to the Global objectives.

Build a pipeline of category initiatives and opportunities (Savings / Productivity / Risk Management / Innovation) required to meet targets using external supply market / business intelligence, application of benchmarking methodologies and internal business partner knowledge. This process may include management and coordination of specialist suppliers on market intelligence data.

Delivery of and accurate reporting of Procurement Balanced Scorecard measures and Value Contribution targets (operational metrics, savings, quality etc.) achieved from implemented sourcing strategies.

Contract volumes and associated statistics by sub-category, geography, and function, as appropriate.

Non-category accountabilities:

Develop strong, trustworthy relationships with key stakeholders relating to category accountabilities, other procurement teams and General / Administrative functions such as Finance, HR, Legal and Compliance to ensure appropriate inputs to sourcing strategies and implementation plans.

Support the global development and standardization of core category management infrastructure (Processes / Systems / Tools) and encourage adoption in the region to improve procurement efficiency, performance, and compliance.

People:

Report Directly to Head of Procurement for Global Commercial Spend.

Close collaboration with Global Category Lead for Marketing Service and MICE, as well as other procurement staff, key business stakeholders (and project related resources as appropriate).

Administration:

Follow the defined process to ensure contracts developed in the category are effectively implemented at a regional, and local level (as needed) including both terms and conditions and sign off procedures.

Ensure annual operating activities are undertaken within the allocated budget and provide timely reporting to the Head of Procurement for Global Commercial Spend as required

The ideal candidate:

  • Must have indirect spend procurement experience in sales and marketing related categories such as MICE, Digital, Creative, Market Research, Medical services and etc. * *_Pl_ _ease highlight your top 3 categories you have experience in. For example: My top 3 categories are: Warehouse, Market Research and R&D_ _**_

  • Must be fluent in English, and Mandarin will be a plus.

  • Must have 3-5 years pharmaceutical industry experience either in US or Europe.

  • Knows the supplier landscape and has working relationships with known key suppliers.

  • Has hands on experience of shaping and executing category specific sourcing strategies including contract shaping.

  • Can work comfortably across time zones and cultures in an effective way to build and nurture cross cultural relationships.
