We are seeking a Senior Product Manager for our NetStorage business. This person will be responsible for product requirements, developing pricing, managing product launches and strongly influencing the product strategy. The role will involve working closely with sales, marketing, customers, engineering, senior management, as well as a full cross-functional team including channels, service and support, network and operations, integration services, customer care, and billing.

As a Senior Product Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Connecting vision and technology with sufficient detail so that engineering teams can build products within the agreed upon timeframes and budget

  • Creating product requirements and clearly communicating through scope documents

  • Identifying key market adoption milestones and managing teams to accomplish those milestones

  • Setting pricing globally and regionally including bundling and discounting frameworks

  • Conducting financial analysis of product usage, revenue and costs including methodical breakdown of segment and regional variances tied back to strategy and market positioning

  • Defining and rolling-out positioning of business solutions and creating go-to-market plans

  • Developing a business and market communication plan encompassing the end-to-end needs of customers distributing content for the purposes of entertainment, gaming or social applications

  • Identifying and implementing partnerships for offering Akamai customers a complete solution for their business model

  • Representing Akamai at conferences and other events

  • Defining product strategy and extensively testing and refining with customer segments and sales representatives

  • Selling business strategy vision to company executives and across functions within company

About the Team

The Media Product Management team is a group of industry leading professionals dedicated to owning and driving the innovation of cloud products at Akamai to serve the media, gaming, software and social industries. Our products are used by the global top businesses to manage, store, and deliver digital content to a wide array of digital devices. Our customers include Apple iTunes, Viacom MTV, News Corp, MLB, NBA, Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, and many more.


Required Education and Experience

Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:

  • 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or

  • 8 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree or

  • 5 years of relevant experience and a PhD

Required Skills

7+ years of experience in product management or business development with distributing computing technologies, content distribution technologies or equivalent experience

  • 3+ years of experience with cloud storage products

Desired Skills

  • Experience with market segmentation and business analysis of products to markets

  • Situational fluency, ability to influence and motivate others and perseverance to handle challenging business situations

  • Ability to gather data from the market and customers to analytically determine business priorities

  • Desire for on-going challenges and interest in continuously learning about new Internet technologies

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to a broad range of technical and business audiences
