Boeing's Sustainability & Future Mobility (S&FM) Team is bringing together research and technology development in order to drive the success of Boeing's commitment (https://www.boeing.com/resources/boeingdotcom/principles/sustainability/assets/data/2022_Boeing_SR_Exec%20Summary.pdf) to enable the industry to get to net zero carbon emissions by 2050. We are a Boeing Research and Technology team responsible for several emerging technology development projects as well as an integration point for many ongoing technology development efforts across Boeing that will help reduce the industry's impact to climate change.

One of the S&FM team’s responsibilities is development of Boeing’s Cascade (https://onfirstup.com/boeing/BNN/articles/boeing-team-maps-out-route-to-curb-carbon-1?bypass_deeplink=true) capability. Cascade is an interactive website that allows the user to visualize the commercial aviation sector's flight map and filter that by region, aircraft type, airline, or even arrival and destination airports. The user can then see the industries current CO2 emissions and energy usage, quantify its environmental impact, and interactively assess potential future sustainability strategies (fleet renewal, operational efficiency, renewable energy, and advanced technology).

The Sustainability & Future Mobility team within the Engineering, Test & Technology (ET&T) function is currently looking for an experienced Senior Product Manager - Cascade to join our team in Cambridge, MA or Seattle, WA to support the development of Cascade.

The Cascade Product Manager will lead development and implementation of the Cascade web application across the full product development process. The product manager will work with internal and external stakeholders to understand stakeholder requirements, align engineering and modeling capability, collaborate closely with software developers and manage requirements, team performance and delivery milestones throughout evolution of the product. The product manager will be responsible for delivery of the Cascade application as well as development of engineering modeling capabilities required for current and future versions of cascade.

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead a global team through the product lifecycle, from discovery to delivery and sustainment

  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with stakeholders and peers

  • Work collaboratively with modeling engineers, UX design, software development, global enterprise sustainability, legal, compliance and other teams to achieve delivery of Cascade features to Boeing users initially and then to external users

  • Define product features, create product roadmaps, and curate product backlogs

  • Create context and clarity for the product team to deliver against product roadmaps

  • Develop performance measures and targets for delivery of the future phases of Cascade

  • Measure product outcomes to inform product roadmaps and feature decisions

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and business partners to identify emerging opportunities and risks to capture and mitigate

  • Communicate strategy and consistent product messaging to stakeholders and users

  • Guide Cascade through new feature launches, connecting users to the product, providing training, and consistent product messaging

  • Understand, research, and follow technical trends in data technology and aviation

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or any technical field

  • 5+ years of product management experience and/or technical problem-solving skills

  • Experience utilizing Agile processes

  • Experience with modeling and simulation

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience launching technology products and features that delight users

  • 5+ years experience creating strategic product roadmaps and working and communicating with cross-functional teams

  • Experience with aerospace technology development

  • Experience with sustainability and communicating climate change impact

  • Experience with multiple modeling and simulation tools and processes for use in complex scenario analysis

  • Experience influencing multiple stakeholders without direct authority

  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and relationship management skills

Summary pay range: $191,250 - $258,750
