SENIOR POLICY ASSOCIATE (EDUCATION), Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (JPAL), to join a global research center working to reduce poverty by ensuring that policy is informed by scientific evidence. Will contribute to JPAL’s mission of promoting evidence-informed policy in Education (https://www.povertyactionlab.org/education) . Will write publications that “translate” economic research into lessons for policymakers around the world; have an opportunity to support senior staff to create materials for policy outreach, including publications (https://www.povertyactionlab.org/publications) , evaluation summaries (https://www.povertyactionlab.org/evaluations) , presentations, grant proposals, policy memos, blogs, social media content and newsletters and website content among other sector-specific work; develop in-depth knowledge of J-PAL’s Education sector) and provide evidence support to policymakers; and support J-PAL staff in the administration of a research initiative which aims to generate a body of rigorous evidence through systematic research on open questions education. The position offers an opportunity to help organize events (https://www.povertyactionlab.org/events) and further your communication skills by presenting at conferences and participating in meetings with policymakers and partner organizations. Will also support J-PAL’s overall mission in other ways, including performing internal tasks such as knowledge management; supporting work on diversity, equity, and inclusion; and undertaking professional development opportunities. May also serve as a liaison between J-PAL Global and one of J-PAL’s regional offices covering Africa (http://www.povertyactionlab.org/africa) , Europe (http://www.povertyactionlab.org/europe) , Latin America (http://www.povertyactionlab.org/LAC) , Middle East and North Africa (https://www.povertyactionlab.org/middle-east-and-north-africa) , North America (http://www.povertyactionlab.org/north-america) , South Asia (http://www.povertyactionlab.org/south-asia) , and Southeast Asia (http://www.povertyactionlab.org/southeast-asia) .

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree; training in economics, including and intermediate-level economics and econometrics; and four years of relevant work experience. Job #205941/3/22
