Sanofi Group Senior Manager/Associate Director, Science Communications in Cambridge, Massachusetts

POSITION OVERVIEW

Objective: This role will help develop content and support our leaders in communicating Sanofi’s R&D strategy, scientific approach and pipeline programs to external and internal audiences through a variety of channels (social media, website, internal platforms, etc.). S/he will work with colleagues on the Science Communications team, as well as our scientists and R&D leadership, to create written and visual content that helps distinguish the company’s R&D efforts, with a focus on making scientific concepts accessible to a broader audience. S/he will also engage with communicators in our business units, employee communications and our broader editorial team to ensure that we are consistently communicating our science and placing it in the context of our broader corporate narrative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop content designed to highlight the work of Sanofi’s R&D organization and help elevate the company’s scientific reputation

  • Participate in the creation, planning and implementation of activities to build awareness of Sanofi R&D among key stakeholders; help identify novel and effective opportunities to build Sanofi’s reputation

  • Work with leaders and scientists across the R&D organization to understand and translate our science and R&D strategy for a broader audience

  • Collaborate with Employee Communications colleagues to share our R&D story internally

  • Work with colleagues in our business units to help create a consistent articulation of our therapeutic area strategies/programs

  • Engage with the broader corporate editorial team in the planning and development of science content

Professional Experience

  • Experience in translating scientific concepts for wider audiences

  • Strong familiarity with/experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industries

  • A background in writing or communications

Skills and Competencies

  • Demonstrated understanding of the drug development process and the legal/regulatory environment governing healthcare communications

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Interpersonal skills – ability to network and communicate with various functions

  • Strong team spirit, active listening

  • Ability to manage and coordinate agencies/subcontractors

  • Ability to manage budget and timelines
