Within Sanofi's Corporate Affairs department, the Global Media Relations Department is responsible for promoting the company and its activities to the media. In line with company strategic objectives, the Senior Manager is a part of, supports and contributes to the Global Media Relations team, as well as the strategic and impactful planning, direction, and/or execution of media strategies across the company and global business units or functions.

This position is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, US, and reports to the Senior Director, Products & Pipeline Media Relations.


  • H/She actively participates to defining and implementing relevant and impactful media relations actions:

  • Helps to develop proactive and creative media strategies and campaign execution to support global Sanofi business priorities.

  • Manages key activities including global press release writing and dissemination, global related communications needs, media monitoring, event management and various other activities to support business needs and the GMR team.

  • Identifies and develops opportunities to effectively communicate key company milestones, including M&A and Business Development news, while developing all relevant and necessary media material.

  • Ensures dissemination of important news and media coverage to relevant business units and leadership.

  • S/He proactively protects and works to find opportunities to enhance the corporate image with coordination of company news and corporate announcements.

  • The Senior Manager provides support to members of the corporate affairs leadership team and counsel to the global business units, and countries, regarding coordination of corporate priorities and data and regulatory milestones.

  • Additionally, S/He partners with the Global Media Relations and Executive Communications team to identify opportunities for executive spokespeople to participate in external events including conferences, webinars, panels, and partner programs.

  • The Senior Manager will be responsible for supporting a specific portfolio of activities which could include one or more of Sanofi's global business units and/or divisions described above.


  • Education: Generalist higher education or specialized communications.

  • US: bachelor's degree required, masters or higher degree beneficial.

  • Years of experience: minimum 5-7 years, at a top-tier "in-house" corporate communication team, communication agency or PR agency,

  • Languages: English proficiency mandatory. Additional languages (French) beneficial.

  • Expertise in media relations is a mandatory : experience working with global / media / journalists (and the ability to understand their function, issues, methods, expectations, etc.)

  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written skills (an excellent writer). Strong ability to write for lay persons is a plus.

  • Communications experience that includes critical thinking and understanding of positioning an organization to achieve tangible outcomes in a competitive communications environment.

  • Ability to coach and support senior leaders as spokespersons.

  • Ability to work independently and to deal with complex issues in an environment that requires resilience, responsiveness, and flexibility (global matrix organization).

  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical/biotechnology/healthcare environment and experience in management of reputation / notoriety.

  • Knowledge of corporate financial topics beneficial.

  • Software: knowledge in using Microsoft.
