The Senior Manager Market Development is a pivotal role in executing Thermo Fisher's strategy for the global biotech market, specifically within the new and emerging customer base. This dynamic and creative individual will be responsible for synthesizing market and customer insights to identify trends, for tracking relevant market dynamics and for supporting solution development colleagues with opportunity assessments and solution launches. Close collaboration with commercial colleagues will be essential, requiring the development and maintenance of customer value proposition collateral and sales tools- for solutions and for ecosystem players. Responsible for supporting development and implementation of assets to drive the digital biotech customer journey, the Sr. Manager will operate in an intercultural, diverse, virtual, matrix environment, and will often have to ensure alignment in the face of competing interests and priorities.

The successful individual will use their comprehensive marketing experience, technical knowledge and customer-centricity to promote the application of solutions into the biotech segment, leading and influencing cross-functional teams to drive results. Their ability to prioritize and manage multiple parallel projects, combined with business acumen, outstanding communication skills and commitment to teamwork, will make a positive impact on the business and customers.

Remotely based in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, D.C., or Chicago.

What will you do?

  • Lead market development efforts:

  • Represent total company interests in the biotech digital lighthouse project

  • Advocate inclusion of company-wide solutions (e.g. incubator start up)

  • Contribute to project governance

  • Support ongoing market sub-segmentation, partnering with data analytics team

  • Market analyses, including trends, competition and deep dives into designated Hubs

  • Engagement with divisional biotech core teams to share best practices and align approaches

  • Support solution development

  • Collect and synthesize voice of customer

  • Contribute to market intelligence efforts

  • Topic-specific market opportunity research

  • Support solution launches to commercial team

  • Develop and maintain solution sales tools

  • Solution focused customer value prop decks -with logical branching to divisional value props

  • Sales training collateral

  • Marketing assets

  • Maintain/update existing tools and processes for ecosystem players (e.g. incubators) and develop new ones as appropriate

  • Collaborate on divisional tool expansion (e.g. Kaon app for lab products)

  • Support biotech Hub model

  • Collaborate with product/project managers to prioritize and target ecosystem players

  • Develop solution-focused customer value prop decks for ecosystem players

How will you get here?

  • Mandatory BA/BS with major/minor in sciences/business preferred.

  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience successfully developing marketing plans.

  • Experience in life sciences, biotech or related field required.

  • Experience with marketing communication, segmentation, value proposition and marketing program development and execution required.

  • Multi-tasking experience, flexibility, and understanding of business impact to address immediate priorities and still manage deadlines with longer-term projects and strategic initiatives.

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

  • Negotiation skills - ability to influence disparate parties and come to agreement.

  • Ability to work across disciplines and in a multi-cultural, team based environment and able to influence others in a matrix environment.

  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
