How will you make an impact?
The Senior Business Manager of the newly started Cell Therapy CDMO service within Thermo Fisher is a customer facing leader knowledgeable in cell therapy, clinical drug development, and business development. This senior role leads the acquisition and onboarding of pharmaceutical and biotech companies in search of contract manufacturing services, and then owns and drives profitability and growth of the business in collaboration with site leaders. This is a hybrid role requiring a deeply experienced individual contributor who can flex between task-oriented deliverables and strategic thinking.
Remotely based in San Diego, San Francisco, or Boston.
What will you do?
As a Leadership Team member, helps define commercial portion of the overall strategy.
Owns pricing and quotations accountabilities, ensuring profitability as the commercial advisor to the General Manager, for both new and existing customers.
Conducts field sales calls, often in partnership with other sales and technical personnel to convey the total value across Thermo Fisher products and services.
Leads and owns contract negotiations as the primary customer contact for partnering companies.
Collaborates substantially across business units to achieve corporate goals, amidst potentially competing priorities.
Contributes as an immediate team member with sister CDMO sites supporting Plasmid, mRNA, Viral Vector, Biologics, and Clinical Logistics services with the same set of customers.
Mentors and coaches early career as well as developed peers as a leader and member of the Leadership Team.
Travel to Thermo Fisher and customer sites as needed to not to exceed 25%.
How will you get here?
Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences required; MBA, Project Management (PMP), or advanced technical degree preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of related experience in technical leadership roles, with 8 years industry experience.
At least 2 years of experience managing projects within Cell Therapy manufacturing and translatable business area.
At least 1-2 years of experience in contract and business management supporting supply agreements, CDAs and work statements.
At least 1-2 years of experience in demand and supply planning and forecasting leveraging business management tools for financial forecasting.
Business Development experience and working knowledge of CDMO related Agreements.
Customer focused competency to maximize value amidst a large number of possible solutions.
Firm knowledge of the clinical drug development process, cell therapy and advanced modalities.
Personal attributes: exceptional written and verbal communication, ability to lead without authority, and thrive in a fast paced startup environment.
