    Job Description

SENIOR LIBRARY RELATIONS AND SALES ASSOCIATE, MIT Press, to work with the senior manager of library relations and sales on building and growing business and maintaining long-term relationships with the academic library market. Responsibilities include cultivating new sales and chasing leads; employing a variety of sales techniques and suggesting and developing new approaches to obtain sales and develop customer relationships; implementing new business models and growing sales through customer targeting, gap analysis, and market awareness; preparing and managing sales and usage data and reports on MIT Press digital products; developing and preparing quotes and proposals for select customers; handling queries from librarians; tracking renewals and chasing lapsed renewals; supporting sales representatives working internationally by setting up trials, providing product information, performing market research, and troubleshooting customer issues; helping maintain customer-facing product information; exploring and implementing tools and improved workflows for sales support; collaborating with customer service and providing support and mentorship on new tools to ensure positive relationship development with the library market; collaborating on developing campaigns to drive growth for all institutional-facing products; staying connected to developments/trends in the library market; meeting sales targets; and performing other duties as needed.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; five years’ administrative and/or sales experience in a publishing setting, preferably in the academic library market; and data management and analysis skills. Seek a solutions-driven individual who is able to pivot and lead in the face of changing needs, pay attention to detail and the big picture, work independently and cross-departmentally, develop an understanding of the needs of differing teams, and build and maintain strong professional relationships. PREFERRED: bachelor’s degree.
