Sanofi Group Senior Director, US Media Relations in Cambridge, Massachusetts

  • The Senior Director, U.S. Media Relations, supports and contributes to the Global Media Relations team with coordination of U.S. news (both proactive and reactive) and U.S. public policy initiatives.

  • H/She: 1) Develops U.S. driven media strategies and campaign execution to support U.S. Sanofi business priorities, 2) Ensures dissemination of important U.S. media coverage to relevant business units and executives 3) Execution of key activities including U.S. press release dissemination, U.S. related communications needs (including HR and other U.S. corporate affairs initiatives), media monitoring, event management and various other activities to support the U.S. team.

  • The Senior Director, U.S. Media Relations partners with the U.S. Public Affairs team and other relevant U.S. functions to identify public policy issues relevant to the organization.

  • H/She will collaborate with U.S. senior leadership to develop and implement communication strategies to broaden the impact of programs and develop communications strategies that will broaden programmatic reach and deepen impact.

  • H/She works in collaboration with the Head of Global Media Relations and the Senior Director, U.S. Media Relations, to engage with top-tier media and triage as needed.

  • He/She can be led to collaborate with the Head of Global Media Relations on ad-hoc ex-US media requests.

Job Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Significant communications experience that includes a blend of public affairs and media relations.

  • A strong track record of positioning an organization to achieve tangible outcomes in a competitive communications environment.

  • Ability to coach and support senior leaders as spokespersons.

Qualifications :

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required

  • Masters or Advanced Degree is preferred

  • A minimum of 12+ years of overall professional work experience in a Communication Agency, PR agency, or "in-house" corporate communication role(s) is required

  • Demonstrated expertise in media relations is required

  • Selected candidate will have strong writing and communication skills

  • Experience working with global / media / journalists (and the ability to understand their function, issues, methods, expectations, etc.) is preferred

  • Ability to work independently and to deal with complex issues in an environment that requires resilience, responsiveness and flexibility is required

  • Experience within the Pharmaceutical and/or Life Sciences area is strongly preferred

  • Selected candidate will have a strong blend od Public Affairs and Media Relations background

  • This position may require up to 30% overall travel, with travel requirements to the New York and Washington, DC areas
