Our Genetic Sciences Division based in South San Francisco is at the forefront of innovation for genetic analysis research and clinical applications. The Microarray Platform within GSD is accountable for delivering solutions in Predictive Genomics and Reproductive Health applications. The Sr. Manager, Business Development will report to the Head of Business Development for microarray platform, serving as a key leader in the development of revenue-generating strategic relationships for the business unit on supporting North America. Additionally, this individual will implement tactics that include incorporating Thermo Fisher Scientific products and solutions within opportunities in national initiatives. The role exists in a matrixed environment.
The role will work closely with the Company’s commercial channels to identify new opportunities and build the opportunity funnel. The role is empowered to expand utilization of the Company’s microarray platform in biobanking, predictive genomics and pharmacogenetics and clinical pharmacology.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development
Develops collaborative relationships with key opinion leaders – across all use cases – to facilitate demand for microarray, build the opportunity funnel and preference for Thermo Fisher Scientific solutions
Engage with commercial team in “where to play” and “how to win” by identifying and understanding the market opportunities and customer expectations!!
Understands industry dynamics, the competitive landscape for positioning microarray products in key growth markets and regions for Predictive Genomics and clinical pharmacology.
Experienced with deal architecture, and strategies to win opportunities in population genetics
Close to technical, product and people aspects and is able to bring in cross-functional groups into customer discussions (e.g. product marketing and bioinformatics)
Collaborative in nature, externally and internally, to build passion and ensure successful execution. Develops strong and strategic relationships within Thermo Fisher Scientific across functional teams including R&D, legal, finance, regulatory, application specialists, commercial, and global market development teams ; maintain a balance of communication across various customer groups; use any opportunity to support commercial teams and build trust and interest, even outside of business focus.

Implements strategy and delivers financial results
Strong ability to identify broad unmet market needs, identify value propositions and select prospective accounts for development, providing incremental benefit to commercial sales processes.
Drives pipeline of revenue-producing relationships with passion in driving business in new accounts
Implements strategy to exceed microarray revenue!
Possess the capability and builds credibility to make tough decisions related to deal sheet
Strong skills in writing term sheets, business term-sheets and deal economics
Qualifications/Experience:
Bachelors Degree, preferably in health sciences and genomics.
MSc or MBA preferred
Minimum 3 years experience preferred in life sciences innovations, including genetic analysis and genomics, with microarray expertise a strong plus
Strong organizational abilities and project ownership ethic with a “can do” personality
Experience in working in a matrixed-environment
Strong customer/quality orientation with proven record to build and lead customer and partner relationships at very senior levels
Requires travel in domestic and international markets, 30 – 40 travel %
